Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to
goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. -- 2 Peter 1:5-7 THOUGHT: Sometimes we forget that love and grace ultimately call us to action, and not just reflection. Action means effort. That's exactly what Peter is calling us to make -- "every effort." Peter explains why this effort is important in the next few verses. "If we possess these qualities in increasing measure," they help us be productive in our knowledge of Jesus! Let's be productive! As we make "every effort," we can be assured that the Holy Spirit is the power at work producing the fruit that makes effectiveness possible! Galatians 5:22-25

You can go to an are gallery and rave on about how beautiful a painting is, but only the painter experienced the emotion, inspiration, and joy of creation that resulted in that painting.
