What did your mom used to say?

Here's a few of mine...

"Don't put that in your mouth, you never know where it's been!"

"Stop making that face it'll freeze like that!"

"Close the door, long-tail!" (when we'd leave the door hanging open during the winter...like we had a long tail that was dragging in behind us)

"Dogs can chase cars, but they can't drive them."

"If you always think you're going to fail, then one of these you're going to be right."

"Don't be ashamed of Jesus--He wasn't ashamed of you!"

I probably won't remember very many. Usually I recall them in the situation that they are appropriate. These were things that her mom always said as well. (And probably her mom's mom, etc.) Here are some:

"It ain't a shame to be poor, but it's a shame to be dirty."

About roaches: "It ain't a shame to have them, but it's a shame to keep them."

About sticking out your tongue: "If you don't put that back in then a little birdy will come and sit on it." (although sometimes it was substituted "poop on it.")

"You can always tell how clean someone is by looking behind their toilet."

Your nose is going to grow long if you tell a lie.

Don't go outside in the cold with wet hair or you will catch cold.

No desert if you don't eat your vegetables.

Eat your porage before you go to school cause it will stick to your ribs ( never understood that one until later in years )

Breakfast is the best part of the day.

Moms are always right.

Yep. That was one also. She also used to say (a phrase that has lots of variations) "You can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool MOM!"
