Transylvania twist? Are you guys talking about Dracula? You do know I am from Romania where Transylvania is, where Dracula comes from, right? Does anyone on this site wants to know the real story behind Dracula? I'd be happy to share it!

Was it Vlad the Impaler? I saw something about that on the History Channel last night. Wasn't really paying attention though 'cuz I was playing with my new puppy.

Well, Vlad Tepes (which means "the impaler") got the bad wrap for it but that's not the true story! Ok, are you ready? This is as spooky as it is sick! And it's true...

Before Vlad Tepes was the king of Transylvania, there was a Hungarian queen by the name of Elizabeta de Batori. She was an unusually small and extremely physically repellent woman. She was probably 4 feet tall, hunched back and her skin was so white she almost looked like an albino, with no pigmentation. She was also insane. Not much is known about her rule as a queen but what is very well known is that at one point in her life she decided that she could do something about the way she looked, mainly bathe in blood. Not just any blood though! It had to be young, beautiful, virgin girl's blood. So, under the pretext that she was looking for ladies in waiting she summoned hundreds of young, beautiful and virgin maidens at her castle from all the neighboring villages. At first, it was a painless, clean murder. The girls throught was cut, the blood drained and then the lifeless body was tossed in a neighboring forest. The local people started finding those dead bodies with the throught cut and started making up stories of a creature who feasted on blood to sustain it's life. It went on from there to become the story we know today, but this is the true version. No one knows how many young women died, but towards the end, the queen became entirely crazy to where she had gory rituals which I will not describe here, by which she killed her victims. So, there you have it! And by the way, Vlad Tepes was not a bad guy. He was a man of the people, although a little off his rocker, because he did impaled a lot of people. However, those were criminals, especially nobility who treated the peasants very badly. In his day, you could leave a bag full of gold coins in the middle of the town and NO ONE would touch it! You could probably guess why! Let's just say, he kept a tight reign and the punishment for lawlessness was severe, to say the least!

They guy who gave it to me said it was cocker spaniel and something-or-another...
