Hashimoto's disease is a condition in which one's own immune system attacks and attempts to destroy the thyroid gland. It is like multiple sclerosis, except that in MS the central nervous system is the focus of attack.

As an autoimmune disease, Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) may very well be of help.
