Well, I have read studies on beer and it does reduce strokes in women, helps your heart and so on.
The problem is it is empty calories and causes that ugly beer belly AND a person has to have self control.

That's some good advice, but I think first priority should probably be to call 911! An also, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure Healthy eating and exercise is wayyy underrated in the US today.

Healthy eating all along is the best advice.
BUT......if we haven't always done this, then we can be at risk.
It is never too late to start a healthy diet and exercise.
We can unclog our arteries and prevent heart muscle damage which is irreversible.

Acutally it is no longer irreversible- here is a qoute from brother James:

I wanted to let you know of a recent developement in heart treatment here in the United States. In patients that have damaged hearts, damaged muscle tissue due to heart attack or virus, doctors are now able to take a small piece of the patients calf muscle or forearm muscle and grow the stem cells from this piece of muscle. These stem cells, once they have been grown, cultured to about 800 million in quantity, taking about six weeks, are then injected into the heart and the stem cells align perfectly with only the damaged cells forming new, viable, sound heart muscle. Essentially, it restores the heart to what it once was.

This procedure, from what I understand, has been thru all the trials and testing. I had originally heard about it four months ago, and it was within the past month that it was announced on ABC News (a major US news outlet) as being legitimate.

I wouldn't mention this to you if I thought it could be considered "fringe" or out of the mainstream of medicine. It has hit the big time from what I understand.

I don't know if something like this would be applicable to your situation, if you have damaged heart muscle or not, but I thought it would be good to mention it. Your heart doctor may have heard about this by now, and an internet search will surely bring you more information on the procedure.

Just thought to tell you this in case it can help in someway. It being new, not too many people have heard about it yet. God Bless.
