What is a skim board?

Silly rabbit… it’s a board used for skimming.

It’s a good question though. I don’t feel like going on google… so, same question.
What is a skim board?

A skim board is a flat piece of wood shaped like a football. You must be on a tropical beach with the reall fine sand, no rocks anywhere on the beach. A big wave comes in, and hits its peak. Once it starts to receed back out down the beach. You run towards the receeding water as if you are going to chase it. You grip your board with one hand on the side, one hand on the the back tip, you throw it so it begins to skim down the beach, carried by the momentum of the wave, and gravity. No more than a split second after you've thrown it, you jump on it using as much of your running momentum as possible. You get a 5-8 second ride that ends it a jump or a flip cuased by the next wave that is on its way in.

It beats surfing in my opinion. It's much easier to learn, plus you can spend way too much time paddling out to sea or waiting for the right wave.

Now, lets try a jeopardy style question.

A sport used in valley's involving a line and traveling at a high speed from the higher end of the valley to the lower end on the other side.

Would that be a zip line?
We used a zip line in the millitary that sounds just like that.

Military question... What is "fast roping"?

Military question... What is "fast roping"?
Fast-roping is a technique for descending down a thick rope. It is useful for deploying troops from a helicopter in places where the helicopter itself is unable or unwilling to touch down. First developed by the British, its first combat use was during the Falklands War. The original rope was a thick nylon that could be used in a manner akin to a fireman's pole. Originally, the first man would hold the rope for the next man, who then replaced him, however this has been phased out.
It is quicker than abseiling/rappelling, although more dangerous, particularly if the person is carrying a heavy load because the rope is not attached to them with a descender. The person simply holds onto the rope with his or her hands and feet and slides down it. Several people can slide down the same rope simultaneously provided that there is a gap of 3 metres or so between them, so that each one has time to get out of the way when they reach the ground before the next person lands on them. The rope has to be thick, typically 40 mm diameter, to prevent the rope from being wildly jerked about from the rotor blast of the helicopter. It is essential to wear gloves, as sliding down a rope generates great heat from friction.

Ok then.

This is a specific brand of snack that is now officially the best snack in the world and my favorite snack. It consists of four different brand of chips into one bag, one of them being pretzels.
