Many are feeling the pinch of our ever increasing inflation rate, which is in reality between 12.5 and 15.6 percent according to studies done by a couple newspapers. I believe these numbers to be closer to the truth than the lying Government numbers, which omit such categories as fuel and food. The government started fudging the numbers a decade or so ago in order to keep the foreigners investing in our national debt and consumer based economy. Also it's good political propaganda and you don't have to pay out significant increases to retired people. A lot of important reasons for manipulating it to an artifically low value.

I think it would be mutually beneficial to have a FORUM where investment, savings, budgeting, and general cost savings could be discussed. For example: I am presently in the process of changing my mortgage over to being paid twice per month. This cuts several years off of the mortgage term and really doesn't cost any more once you make the transition. I wonder how many people are doing this?

There is also the spiritual side of investing relative to underwriting the Gospel as well.

Just a thought

I withdraw my suggestion for starting a money thread. I tried posting a couple ways to save money and I had probably twenty more yet to post. There just isn't any interest that I can see in this topic, which puzzles me. I guess I am projecting my own concerns about a coming depression, which I don't think you have to be prophetic to see.

I guess the good news is that people are well off financially and really don't need to conserve - yet. When you retire though you are forced to learn how to live conservatively.

Thank You,
