Several active weather areas for today: Mid day and afternoon thunderstorms are possible throughout the northern plains and western Great Lakes states today. Potential for some severe storms exists in that area. We are also watching development for potentially severe storms in North and South Carolina today as well as the southern parts of Florida and in central Texas. Please monitor your local NOAA Weather Alert radio stations and local media broadcasts for regional updates. The potential exists for heavy rains, high winds, hail and some tornado formation in these areas through the mid day to evening hours.
