The central part of the US has experienced another round of severe weather over the past two days. The jet stream patterns over the past month have created a potential for severe storms every couple of days from Texas up through the plains states, Mississippi Valley and the Ohio Valley. This pattern will continue for the forseeable future and persons in these areas should stay alert for daily changes in their weather and monitor local media and local NOAA Weather Alert Stations.

Those on the east coast are experiencing storm surge and tropical storm conditions from the low pressure system situated about 300 miles off the Georgia coast.

The NHC has designated the system 90.L and will be flying a Hurricane Hunter into it tomorrow. Right now, it probably WILL NOT become Tropical Storm Andrea, but it is definately something to watch.

Seas are 15 to 30 feet and sustained winds are just under 40mph.

This is a "cold core" storm, so even though it looks, walks, and talks like a hurricane, technically it is not.

I was looking at that beast yesterday- if I am not mistaken the waters haven't warmed up enough to produce a real hurricane yet but I certainly hope it is not a sign of what to expect this year!
