    I will give you Rest

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Everyone, Everywhere seems to be working more and sleeping less! It is hard to wake up fully ready to tackle the day when we have nothing but restless nights, usually due to all the stress, anxiety, pressure and worries of the day. That is not what God wants for us, he wants us to live in peace, confidence and rest! We need to just step aside and believe that God will do more in our lives than we ever can on our own. God knows what He’s doing and if he’s working, then we can rest in him.

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him” (Psalm 37:7 NIV).

Jesus promised to give us peace, but not as the world gives. The Peace that Jesus gives “surpasses all understanding.” When we continually look to God for our peace, we can find true rest in knowing he is always there and ready to save us!
There is more power and strength in resting than you might think.

I am not an expert in fitness but I do know that rest is one of the most important parts of working out. Resting is required for muscles to grow and expand. When you are lifting weights for example you have to actually TEAR your muscles and then let your muscles rest in order for them to grow! Life is a big spiritual workout, sometimes we will struggle and it will take all our might to fight some battles. It hurts to build muscles, and there is pain as our spiritual muscles tear and rip. But when the REST COMES we will be stronger than we were before! God is strengthening us in the storms of our lives, He is telling us loud and clear that our faith is not strengthened on our own, but by resting in Him.

(Exodus 33:14) And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.“

If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. But if you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest.” – Corrie ten Boom ( She was a Nazi prison camp survivor and knew what it was like to go through difficult circumstances in life.)

Heavenly Father, today I choose to cast my cares on You. Teach me to find peace in you daily. Help me find rest in you, so that I can love others the way You love me. I choose to trust You and put my faith and hope in you. I know that you are good and that you have great things in store for my future. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
