My favorite passed away...... Dr. D. James Kennedy. Probably the only one I ever liked.

I really like Pastor John Hagee. I watch him on Tv often and i've even seen him Preach in person. He speaks with the fire of the Holy Spirit and it's incredible. Theres something about boldly (and loudly) proclaiming the truth that really peirces the heart.

I used to like Jack Van Impe until he made the stupidest comment i've ever heard.

"There is going to be music in hell..... Rock and Roll music."

Pastor Gary, when I was in the Mormon faith, we were told that the Holy Bible is the word of God "insomuch as it was interpreted correctly."

You stated, ". . .before the traditions of man changed God's Word into an agenda of biased, misleading and deceptive teachings. Is that similar to what I was told? And could you give me an example of that? Do you think some things really were interpreted wrong? Or do you mean preachers twist the meaning of some of the things in the Bible?

I don't mean to put you all down, but I recently read in the Bible in I Chronicles 16:22 "Do not touch My anointed. And do My prophets no harm." Doesn't that mean we are not supposed to be talking about people who are anointed to preach?

SweetSurrender: When we use the research tools that are available to us to verify the original language word meanings that are contained within the King James Version Bible, we can see that OTHER Bible translations have translation issues which can be attributed to a couple things.

The error filled translations could be honest errors in translating the Hebrew, Aramaic or 'street' Greek OR, they could be deliberate translation CHANGES that man introduced along the way. Man's deliberate changing of some aspects of Bible Versions has been done to 'protect' the average person from certain puritanical subjects and to sanitize the words that the early church-goers would read. Most sexually oriented passages contained in the original Hebrew Manuscript Texts were "cleaned up" by several denominations so as not to expose the 'people' to these references "for their own good". Unfortunately, this has led to a significant degrading of God's Word into texts in some Bible versions that do not resemble the original language words at all.

Using a King James Version Bible and a Strong's Complete Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible to research what the original manuscript texts contained is really the only way to see through the falsehoods that man has introduced into the various other Bible versions. The Strong's Concordance (pre 1991 publication) is a good example of a research tool that clearly gives us the original language word meanings. Even the King James Version has a few errors. The King James Version translating team, from the year 1611, placed a message in the front of the Bible to all readers that they did the best that they could with the technology that they had available to them at that time, and that there are problems with some of their translations. But these are minor and the KJV is the most correct English language version available to this day. That is why Dr. Strong used the King James Version as the basis for his Concordance.

While I will not go into specific detail in showing examples of the false translations in various versions, I will say this: If anyone wishes to compare a certain version's text to the King James Version, please use a high quality Strong's Concordance to look up the King James Version word usages in Hebrew, Aramaic and 'street' Greek and THEN compare that to whichever OTHER version you are comparing it to. THAT will give you a very good idea as to which Bible texts were changed at the hands, agenda and bias of man and man's denominations.

I do not condemn the Bible translations that contain the deliberate changes. But I do ask that all versions be compared to the King James Version so the reader KNOWS about the deliberate changes and can evaluate for themselves as to why this was done and by whom. It takes research and study to accomplish this and many persons are content to just read various Bibles without 'checking up' on their accuracy due to personal time constraints. That is understandable, but for those who DO have time to verify Biblical version contents, it is an eye-opening revelation to see which versions are way off base as compared to the original manuscript language word meanings.

Also, we are given DISCERNMENT to weed out the FALSE PROPHETS AND TEACHERS from those who DO teach God's Word as God wanted it to be taught. In the passage that you quoted, we are told to believe those persons who teach properly. However, Christ reminded us that there are FALSE PROPHETS that SAY that they come to teach in His name, but are not faithful to His Word.

Matthew 24:24-28 (KJV) is our signal from Christ that this will take place and to WATCH OUT for them:

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together."

May God guide all persons in their studies and grant everyone the time that it takes to do it correctly for full understanding. May God bless.

This morning I did!!!

(Drumroll, please...?)

The show is called Shepherd's Chapel, and the pastor's name is Arnold Murray. I think he preaches the Word just great! His voice has gentleness in it, he's never angry. He can practically call the people who are listening "sinners" without offending anybody. And he makes you want to stick around to hear more. More than once, I've been dancing around in my living room waiting for him to finish so I could run to the bathroom!

I especially like how he goes from verse to verse, pausing to reflect on and give his interpretations. He says that God thinks of us all, his children, equally. There's no special ones, nobody's given extra powers here, we're all gifted equally. When God gifts us, he expects more from us, in fact.

Give him a watch. He's very comforting.

Can anybody else out there name their favorite shows? Recommendations? Pastors (I don't want to call them televangelists)?

Thanks!
I have also seen this program. The older pastor does most of the shows but I have seen a younger pastor also, who is he? Is this program out of Arizona?

A-C: The elder Dr. Arnold Murray has two sons; Dennis, who fills in once in awhile on the air, as I have been told, and David, who does quite a few of the Sunday Worship services in their Chapel in Gravette, Arkansas, according to my source.

No disrespect to anyone on this but that is widely and wildly debated. Many different groups are convinced that their particular translations are the only correct ones. You will find quite a large number of these good folks and none of them think that anyone else who disagrees is anything less than deceived.
Personally I enjoy the many flavors of bibles and I have been blessed and edified by each one that have read.

The question is though, how do you know that they ARE anointed to preach?

The bible tells us to test the scriptures for ourselves.
