Found a home for Dad.

We found and decided on a home for Dad. There is much paper work and other things to work out but we feel the atmosphere is good, staff seems competent, and he does get a private room. It is actually in a house as more and more are turning to what we call adult family homes for their loved ones with dementia. We move him in on Sunday. So appreciate your prayers. God is good to go ahead of us and guide us in this discernment. I am trusting and believing that although there will be adjustments for everyone, not just Dad, it will work out well and to God's glory. I believe in some way my husband will be a blessing to his new care givers. Thanks again, dear ones who prayed.

Thank you for the update... we will certainly keep you and your whole family in our prayers... especially "dad"

God bless you all!
Thanks so much Cturtle. I do appreciate that. As I read your name it dawns on me..Cturtle is short for Sea Turtle, right? I love it and when I think of you I picture a Sea Turtle..who lives long and swims so beautifully though deep waters. God bless.

You are partly right :) ..... Sea turtle is included in it... for those are my favorite, but the "C" is for Christ :) for I am His turtle... meaning my life is hidden in and completely committed to Him.
Thanks for the blessings and the smile :)

I'm so sorry Sandpiper. I'm praying for you and your family.

I have but one question: "Dad" is the nick name you use for your husband? Or is it both your husband and you dad going into a home.

It is my husband. He is 84 years old. My dad died in 1946. I called my husband Dad here because my three children call him Dad and "Finding a Home for Dad" is simply an expression commonly used especially when one says, "Finding a Home for Mom." :) However, it's not my turn yet.

It must be very hard at the same time you're seeking to find the best for your dad. My prayers are with you all.
Thanks. so appreciate your prayers as we go through this transition. We know it is the best thing right now but it does involve a lot of changes which can be challenging for older people. We trust in God's continued guidance and strength. The Joy of the Lord is our strength. :)

Glad you found a nice place sandpiper.
I know it can be hard looking for the right placement.
I work with dementia clients and love it!
They have their moments but it's short lived and when they shine their humour they come up with normal everyday grievances that we all have.
They remind me of me.

Praying...
I am so pleased to hear you love your work. It is so important especially in the kind of care and understanding folks with dementia need. Yes, I have been taking care of my husband now for 3 years and I do agree that he certainly has his lucid moments, although short lived. He retains his humor too a lot of the time. :)

Dear Sandpiper;

I'm also sorry, sharing the same sentiment as Abdicate. I know after much prayer you, Ron and your family decided this is what's best and know God will be there, all the way for you both. We're praying the Lord will anoint the staff that will care for Ron and am also thankful for your grown-up children and grandchildren. We're also here for you as well, Sandpiper.

God bless you always.
