In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him (John 15)]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].
Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.
Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].
Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,

Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.
Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people).

The armour is recognizing those things (attributes of God) that He has given us to make us worthy to stand before Him. And given us to use to fight the good fight of faith against the enemy and his cohorts.
It's His righteousness that we take for our own
His peace that He bequeathed to us, when He left this earth.
His blood that purchased our salvation (health, healing, prosperity, welfare, deliverance, safety (ps 91), liberty, preservation, and protection).
It's the truth of His Word that He has made sure to write down for us to read, and meditate upon, and holds all the other pieces of our armour in place.
Its His gospel that He preached that we should have as gospel go shoes, being ready at all times to give an answer for the expectant hope that lies within us.
And our shield of faith which is rooted and grounded in Love, that as we trust in the truth of His Word, and take every thought captive and submitted unto that truth, will protect us from the fiery darts of the enemy.
And as we pray in the spirit, it increases our connection with God, and builds our spirit man's muscles up, so that the more we submit and walk according to the spirits ways and leading... the ways of the flesh and the world fall away and are replaced.
The sword of the spirit is our biggest weapon in the spiritual battle that we use. Being the Word of God, it is alive and is also the very weapon that Jesus used when being tempted by the enemy in the wilderness.
Everything in this life is subject to the Word. Everything has to bow it's knee.
There is more power in speaking the Word of God, then in all the mass destructive weapons in the world. Because Jesus is the Word, in the flesh. And the Word of God is Jesus in written form.
