All CFS members should be aware of this situation:

ALERT:
Given the rise in gas prices, unscrupulous people have taken to stealing license plates, putting them on a their own car (same make and model), then get self service gas and leave without paying. The gas station will have "your" license plate number on video and you could be in trouble for a "pump and run" misdemeanor.

Check your car frequently to be sure you still have a license plate. If you should find it missing, file a report immediately!!! Keep an eye on your license plate ( or plates if your state requires two). Make sure you always know it's there!

When the vehicle with YOUR plate on it is reported as the "drive off vehicle," it's YOU they contact! Be aware and Be informed.

Thanks! I told my mother and my grandmother.

I'm not sure if people would steal my mom's license plate as she has a Porsche Carrera, but I'm sure they would do it my grandmother's Jeep!
