I grew up as a musician, and went to college and got good grades. I had some experiences I'm not proud of, and continue to struggle to this day with some of them. My first contact with God on a serious scale was when I cried out to Him in desperation - I was deep in sin and needed to believe in God more. I wanted to believe in God, but my mind just couldn't wrap around the truth.
Soon I developed mental illness symptoms. I quit college and went to the hospital. I struggled with bipolar schizoaffective since then, being put in the hospital once again in 1999.
The medicine the doctors use to treat my illness causes diabetes. I have a pretty severe case of it, and struggle with my weight too.
Typical to bipolar patients, they can be brilliant people, but their front lobe of the brain is very chemically messed up. This is where common sense and reasoning are vital from the brain. So I have to see a Christian counselor to help me battle not only behavior therapy for certain addictions/impulses, but also for helping me in spiritual guidance and understanding. I struggle with belief, the importance or non-importance of feelings and emotions, and reasoning in the such.
I keep coming back to the same truths and then claim the same promises over and over for me to notice I am secure in the LORD.
Truths - I believe Jesus Christ was divine in the flesh, died for our sins, and with His blood cleansed all who would put their faith in Him, and He is risen to justify us and be our advocate.
Claims - I have the Holy Spirit in me, I am a new creature in spirit, I am loved and cherished by God the Father, who gives all kinds of promises - eternal life, salvation from sins, no more condemnation, victory over the world thru Christ, and much, much more.
Just writing these claims on His promises help me! I look forward to corresponding with many of you.
