The prayer I need right now is that the Spirit guide me to make the right decisions. My very soul aches so much right now just thinking about the many things I have to decide to do(or not to do) in the very near future. I know it is nowhere near the same magnitude, but it reminds me of Jesus in the garden praying for His Father to take the cup of suffering from Him

![]() ![]() ......And I thought it couldn't get much worse. I'm sorry I keep dumping my burdens on everyone here, but now the problems get even worse. I had forgotten my wife had a meeting with our accountant and the IRS this morning over payroll taxes. Well, of course she owes a large sum and now there is a Federal tax lien on her business and maybe my house. We ought to have a large refund on our personal taxes because her busines shows a loss, but still..... Anyway, the house is a huge positive on my side because of the large amount of equity I have in it, and I purchased it before we were married. I'll have to see how that works out though. Somebody please put me out of my misery.........I know my message is depressing, but I am still talking to God to get through this and will continue to do so. |

Charlie, just pray and try and find peace until you can speak to the attorney on Tuesday about the house and everything. Right now there is probably nothing you can do until then. You might want to work on a list of all the loans, property, business, and everything else relating to the financial situation so that your attorney has something organized in one place to refer to. Don't forget to mention to her that you bought the house prior to the marriage. Also, bring documents in case she needs them, such as your mortgage information, any loan information or documents on the business, any tax information, bank accounts, etc. Also, I don't know if you have joint bank accounts with your wife, but if so, then you may need to find out how you can protect them in case she decides to start emptying them out or writing bad checks against them. And don't put any more money into any joint account. Do make sure that you get documentation immediately as to the amount of money that is in any joint accounts. (I am trying to think if there is anything else I can think of that would be helpful. I know how stressful these times are and how many things you never think about at a time like this.) One thing to not do, is to start selling any property (including cars, furniture, etc.).
You will get through this Charlie. Just keep praying until Tuesday..... and worry only about the things that you can take care of this weekend, and try and let go of the worries that you cannot take care of. Like the Serenity prayer:God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. |
