Doubting my faith

Doubting my faith

Hi everyone!

I have some questions here because I just moved from a public school to a private high school. I'm 16, and started at a Private Christian School in SoCal.

I've been a pretty good Christian, church most sundays, generally owning up to things, etc.

Anyway at this new school, its all christian students. The school is elementary -through- high school, and most of them have been at the same school around eachother for a long time. So I started this year, and figured that you know other christians around would make things easier.

But everyone is not really acting like I think a good christian should. Like treating people, its worse than it was in a public school. Totally seeing groups, especially with the more wealthy students cokmpared to some of the poorer ones. And they are drinking and stuff on the weekends, ive already figured that one out, even though they totally latch onto other peoples "sins" during they week.

So the question is, how do i show them what they are doing is wrong without being like an open jerk to them.?

Hi Hospitaller,

My advise would just to be a good example to them. Pray for God to give you wisdom on how to handle different situations.

Teenagers all go through periods of growth and are still trying to sort things out in their heads, whether they are christians or not.

Unfortunately peer pressure, popularity, and bad influences still occur in christian schools, even in christian homes.

Maybe you are expecting higher standards from a christian school, which should be the case, but remember they are still teenagers like yourself and are prone to making mistakes.

Just try and be a good example, shine your light for Christ.

x2.
Just because parents raise their kids to believe in God and be Christian is no garuntee that they will be. IN fact, according to recent studies, more and more young adults that were raised in church and exposed to God as they were grwoing up, are leaving the church once they are removed from those environments and venture into the world, and they are not returning. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink, ya know?
Concentrate on your own relationship with the Lord, and live your life for Him. He will use you to glorify Himself, and you may indeed become the light for some of those still living in darkness of unbelief or false assurances. You are at that school for a reason, not just chance. But be relunctant to pass condemming judgement on your fellow students. Leave that to God to dispense. Love them and lead. Let them that have ears to hear, hear, and eyes to see, see.
Blessings,
Steve

If one puts their eyes on men they will always be dissapointed. If one puts their eyes on Jesus that same one will shine with His light and love onto all who are in darkness. You are not responsible for others but for yourself. It has been said that the devil himself goes to church on a regular basis and of a certainty not all who fill the pews belong to Christ.

I like that, Bo.

Being a Christian doesn't mean that I have all of the right answers automatically. It means that I'm going to be learning about God and His Word for a very long time (hopefully).

So I can't point out what other people are doing wrong, because I have to learn right from wrong myself. The bible that I read can be read in its entirety in a single week.

But it takes a lifetime to learn and understand.

I see where you're coming from now, Bo...thanks.

I agree with Kevin. Be a light! Shine as bright as you can! Keep joy in your heart and spend lots of time inviting the blessings of God into your heart...rather than concentrating on the punishments in store for others.

They're going to see your blessings sooner or later, they're going to know that you have constant joy inside of you. They're going to know the Lord has given you something special, and they're going to want a part of it.

You're a quiet soldier! :) Get hit by only God's bullets. And don't aim and shoot any of your own.

Best of luck, my friend.

I like that saying Boanerges, I see Jesus's light shining through you.:israel:

I was in a Christian school from grades k to 6. If you ask me, it didn't help to be in that environment. We read the bible, and went to worship. But it was all forced, and as a little guy, I didn't care for it, it just became routine, and didn't mean anything. I'm in the public school now, but the friends I have that went and still go to the Christian school aren't a good influence either, drinking on the weekends, and worse.

I honestly don't give any credit to the school for my faith in God now. My mother was and is the influence.

Of course, not all are the same though, and never having gone to a Christian school would definately reduce ones chances of knowing the Lord.

I guess it wouldn't be hard to imagine the confusion that occurs when you try to get that much unruly flesh to sit still and hear the Word of God. Many of these same kids will grow up and realize their need for Christ at a later date.

Here is a Word for you Hospitaller:

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Many blessings on your day and salvation for these lost ones, your brother Larry

Do not let them hurt your view of the faith. Before I was a Christian I dealt with many people who called themselves Christians. They called me a sinner and told me I would go to hell. But they were the ones who would have multiple different sexual relations throughout the year. It was them who would insult everyone the first chance they got. They would curse and have pornography with them wherever they went. Though I was not a Christian at the time I felt I followed the morals of the Bible better than they did. I don't know why people like this exist and why they cling to the faith they do not follow...

Kind of like on Porky's...where the KKK or town council was against everything, and then they were watching porn in the basement?:D

This is one of the reasons why I left the first church I went to when I moved back here.:(

Head up! With God, all things are possible. Bask in His glow and find strength in Him, not other man...that's what I always say.

Bask in His glow and find strength in Him, not other man...see? I'm always saying it.:D

this is a lonely walk, you have to trust youself and God to lead you.stick to truth,s and don,t get worried about anything or any one in this world, each walk is diffrent.

Don't let the good looks fool you...

Greetings and Blessings!

The best advice I have for you is this...

No matter where you go, there is always going to be an opposing force "trial" to test your faith.

Even in churches across the World, there are people that are not always into the Gospel like you would expect them to be.

The best thing you can do is to stay true to your faith. Do not become weak in Spirit. Infact, you need to protect your spirit from this opposite force.

I advise you to pray and seek a friend(s) that are into the Gospel and who want to live a Christian life like you.

hey hospitaller!

i know exactly what you're dealing with...i go to a Christian school as well. i've never attended a public school, but many of my friends have, and they say that the attitudes of people in a Christian school are 10x worse than those in a public school.

i know how discouraging it can be when people all around you claim the name of Jesus, but don't back it up with their attitudes and actions...i have many so-called "friends" who claim that they are Christians, but the truth is they just say that so people won't bother them about it.

anyway, the answer i have come up with is to "kill them with kindness"...there is a "right" way to say EVERYTHING...it may take you a while to figure out how to deal with a situation, but through prayer, God will show you what to say, so keep believing in God's ability to do anything and everything...and keep asking Him for answers.:)

Excellent advice, repeat one thing though ...

Don't look at man, he even disappointed God:D

Hypocrites... They have always existed, exist now and will exist in the future...

Some hypocrites are newbies and just don't know any better...

Others are raised that way by how they see their parents behavior...

Some will say anything to fit in some group...

This is what Christ said " You Come Follow Me "

Leave the hypocrites to Him...

being

at a christian school does not mean that the kids are going to have less pressure to be kids. it is not your job to show them what they are doing wrong Jesus did not point that out when he was here He was just a light an example we can only be Christ like. Ask God To Bless you with a true friend that loves the Lord like you do and wants to grow in truth and spirit.
