Did Jephthah sacrifice his daughter?

I am reading Judges right now. A fascinating book actually. The lawlessness in the land of Israel is very close to what we see happening in many nations today. I was reading about Jephthah and the vow he makes. It is quite a fascinating story. I was researching more about this person Jephthah. His name appears in Hebrews 11! (heroes of faith)
It led me to some interesting perspective. Many claim Jephthah did not sacrifice his daughter as burnt offering. Often we take Jephthah as an example of someone who took a bad vow. That is the lesson people draw from this portion of scripture (including me). But people have thrown a different perspective on this. The main argument is that, if Jephthah is listed as heroes of faith, would he have done burnt sacrifice? Which was an abomination.
What is your scriptural view on this? Would really like to hear from others on their scriptural understanding of the life of Jephthah
 
Absolutely not! Human sacrifices are an abomination to the Lord!

Deuteronomy 12:31 (KJV)
Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.​

She was not burnt, she was given to the service of the Lord as a virgin for life. Furthermore, Jephthah wasn't a priest so he could burn toast to the Lord let alone his daughter. :D

Leviticus 27:28 (KJV)
Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, [both] of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing [is] most holy unto the LORD.​

The word devoted is the same word used to make accursed, consecrate, (utterly) destroy, devote, forfeit, have a flat nose, utterly (slay, make away).

His vow only ended his lineage, which was a mammoth sacrifice. Because of Leviticus 27:28, he couldn't even redeem her for 30 pieces of silver.
