no Big Bang

The theory by physicists, including one of Indian-origin, applies quantum correction terms to Einstein's theory of general relativity to suggest that the universe never expanded nor shrunk.
The new theory may also explain the cause of dark matter and dark energy.
The widely accepted age of the universe, as estimated by general relativity, is 13.8 billion years. In the beginning, everything in existence is thought to have occupied a single infinitely dense point, or singularity.

Well surprise surprise, there was no big bang, of course if you believe in the big bang then you have to believe in faster then light travel, for the universe to expand so quickly. Scientist also about 20 years ago believed the universe was slowing down in expansion till observations said it was in fact speeding up.
anyway,

I lean towards God creating the whole universe at once on a single day, He is after all ...God.
however,
given that genesis 1 says In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
Gap theory.....did the first day occur after the creation of light?
Is that there is a gap between genesis 1:2 and 1:3,

that God created a formless water filled void dark universe....and then light was created on the first day.
however exodus 20:11 puts it to bed "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in....

But the word of God said it took Him six days and He reseted (ceased) on the seventh. The rest is indeed speculation.
