Trials and tribulations of a Sunday School teacher (my diary)

Here I am again, talking about my Sunday School teaching. I know I'm being repetitive but I really need to share this.

Last Thursday, the Lord blessed me with a great lesson. I have no doubt that God wants me to do this and I have no doubt that the Holy Spirit is the real teacher, I'm just an unworthy vessel of His will.

Here's what we did on 5.11.2015:

a) God's Bread. Instead of Halloween, we celebrated God' Bread and the kids enjoyed it. They shared different sorts of candies and in the end, everyone got a bag full of sweets.

b) I get very upset when a student skips classes, I always think it's my fault. Well, I thought one of our kids had left our classes for good but this week he returned and I believe he had a good time.

c) Laughter is extremely important and they laughed for the first time. I showed them a couple of funny videos and then a more serious video on the day's topic (saints).

d) In the end, as always, we said the Lord's Prayer.

The Lord has already given me next lesson's subject, we're going to talk about solidarity.

May Jesus Christ bless us and may the Holy Spirit guide me, I really want this to work. Thank you Lord!

Sounds great!

Something i have to disagree with is that you are no longer an unworthy vessel. When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior...you traded your filthy rags for a garment that has been washed in Thee Blood. So now you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus 2 Corinthians 5: 17-21. God has chosen you to be a light to the younger generation. So it can be said that He trusts you with a great task, knowing that you will do everything you can to honor Him.

2Ti 2:19 — 2Ti 2:21
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

God bless you abundantly! For His grace surrounds you mightily :)

I was surprised and disappointed today.

We didn't have any lesson, all classes were supposed to attend mass and the kids hated it! Half of them didn't show up because they knew it was mass and the other half kept asking me to do something else.

We only had 15 minutes together, so we played a card game with biblical figures. They enjoyed it and wanted to keep playing instead of going to church.

I'd love to invite a waffle cart to our school but I seriously doubt they will allow it.

Ok so it's not exactly biblical but the kids love it and it's always a nice surprise.

Maybe you could pray about a way to encourage the kids to attend mass next time. I know that most kids don't like mass or even sitting through a regular church service at a protestant church. But it is good for them to hear, and be apart of the main service.
Just a thought and i will be praying that God gives you an idea also.

God bless!

I just found out this board game on the internet called Let's go to mass and it looks amazing! What are the odds?!

I'm telling you, the Holy Spirit is definitely at work here!

Ok so we had another lesson today and it went fine, thank God for that.

I used my Android tablets and the kids loved them, they were mesmerized and totally silent for the whole lesson.

It was, however, very tiresome, they did a lot of work and I have to prepare something easier for next thursday.

If you know any board games based on the Bible, please tell me something about it.

Thanks in advance!

And another great lesson yesterday, the kids had a lot of fun! Glory be to God, this is all His doing, not mine.

Because the previous lesson had been so tiresome, this one was just fun, fun, fun.

I have no doubt the Holy Spirit is the real teacher. Here's an interesting detail: I was a bit worried because I had nothing prepared for the second half of the lesson, just a card game based on the Bible. The second half of the lesson was 30 minutes and guess what? The kids loved the game and it lasted exactly... 30 minutes! That was no coincidence!!

I thank the Lord for this whole experience, it's a true blessing!
