Is God Concerned with our every word we speak ?

I want to start a thread on the power of words and how important are our words even unto our faith.

So feel free to jump in and post your thoughts and we will bring in scripture and shine up some truth about the biblical concept on words.....
Thank You and May God bless us all richly with His wisdom as we explore His take on words.

I am going to refrain from answering as I know what you are looking for, but I will say our words "set the stage" for everything that happens in our lives. :)

"But I say unto you ,that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof on the day of judgement" Mathew 12 :36
What is an idle word?
if not a word that does no work, it is 'idle'
If then we will have to give an account of every idle word .What think ye of every word that does a work?

With words Adolph Hitler called to the most base things that are in the nature of man and promised his generation the world and he preached his message that his generation wanted to hear.
With words Winston Churchill preached a message his countrymen did not at first want to hear .
Germany at the time got what it wanted .
England got what it needed.
and each mans words did a work.
In the beginning was the Word.

Jesus said "The words that I speak are not my own words bu the Father who is in me he doeth the WORK.

When Peter spoke those words "thou art the Christ the Son of the living God" Jesus conformed they were not his words as it were but were of heaven.
But when Jesus began to give more light and speak about his coming rejection sufferign and death . Peter thought that his light was all the light and thus rejected the more light that Jesus was giving . The Lord rebuked him severely as being now a spokesman of Satan.
"For this SAYING " Jesus said to one person they received what they sought.
There was a man in the Old testament who did not believe the word of the prophet that the next day the city which ahd up to that point been starving would be in an abundance of food . and for his words of unbelief was told in words by the prophet that though he would see it he would not partake of it .
With words Jesus healed the sick ,raised the dead and delivered many.
It still pleases God "by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe "
The Gospel is sown and propagated by WORDS.
We are BORNagain by the WORD of God and the Spirit of God.

With words a loving mother can calm the fears of a sick child.
With words a father can reprove and correct an errant son.
With words you lie and with words you speak the truth .

is God concerned with the words we speak? Yes .Even every idle word.

Since an unfortunate post by a member a few months ago, I have been meditating on how a particular word has been used by the enemy to attack one of the greatest sources of spiritual strength (that of Christian marriage).

There are no things too small for God's notice: Matt 10:30
It is by the words of the prophets that we learn about God.
It is by words we communicate with others.
It is by words in our mind that we even think.
No words are truly idle.

if the Lord said even every idle word we will have to give and account of .Then you can be sure there are idle words.
But what some call idle are in fact not idle at all.

1Pe 4:11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (NIV)

1Pe 4:11 If your gift is speaking, your words should be like words from God. If your gift is serving, you should serve with the strength that God gives. Then it is God who will be praised in everything through Jesus Christ. Power and glory belong to him forever and ever. Amen. (ERV)

1Pe 4:11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (ESV)

1Pe 4:11 Whoever speaks, let it be with God's words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (NET)

1Pe 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (KJV)

Thank you for the replies so far.......
I will wait a little longer then start posting scripture.
Then we will see what words really are.

No. Us giving account for all we said, does not eqaul God being concerned with all we say. What concerns Him is the state of our hearts.

"For this SAYING go thy way .........."

"God is in heaven and man on earth let then you words be few "

and a certain man "prepared words " before he spoke to God.

"With the HEART man beleiveth but with the MOUTH confession is made unto salvation"
SAY not who will go up for that will bring Jesus down;and SAY not who will go down ;for that will the Lord up. But what sayeth the scriptures The word of faith is night thee even in thy MOUTH........"

"Jesus made a good CONFESSION before Pilate"

"They praise me with their LIPS but their HEARTS are far from me"

I thank almighty God that while my words may indeed be not up to scratch and stumble with them. God hears what I am trying to say and accepts them In Jesus name or it si the Lord who makes them acceptable to the Father .
True it is also that "man looketh on the appearance but God looketh on the heart."

But there are too many other scriptures that we should be aware of and which I have mentioned just a very few that shows we cannot take one truth and make it all the truth .

When Peter with his lips declared the heaven sent truth to his heart "Thou art the Son of the living God"
Almost in the next breath he became the mouth piece of Satan to which Jesus replied not with words of praise or conformation but with a severe rebuke!

So let us not kid ourselves that God is not bothered by what we say only what is in our hearts .
Man is a tri-part being .
He is concerned with all THREE!

I agree with my friend CCW95a in comment #2.

So Gerald if we go by what you feel - (So let us not kid ourselves that God is not bothered by what we say only what is in our hearts) -

Then all that James Taught about the tongue ( Words ) is in vane or filler for the book ?
No my brother God is concerned with all of our words and there will be plenty of scripture soon to back this up.

No. Us giving account for all we said, does not eqaul God being concerned with all we say. What concerns Him is the state of our hearts.
This God looks to our heart is the most mis-used scripture around - it is used like a get out of jail free card as if it were a game. Motives......our Motives is where God looks to the heart. Another words why we did something - the reason inside us........Dont kid your self....good intentions do not always make things right.

Zero. No importance. Nothing to do with our faith.
And Also the written word of God is Seed. It takes this seed ( His Word ) to be planted (received) into our hearts and Watered or as Luke describes it keep it moist which means keeping His word flowing and in and through you.

Seed always grows down before it grows up. It must take root and it only can if you continue keeping His written word before your eyes and in your mouth.

Now Then Here Is Where Many Miss It
Many Christians think they can simply allow anything into their minds and no harm is done.
Once something gets into your mind then it becomes a part of your thinking and once it becomes a part of your thinking then it heavily influences your believing.
Then you got to "Root it Up" or another words remove all this stuff out of your being and get Gods word in there.

Word of God is seed
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God
So Faith is planted in us.........Faith must be developed and grown through the written word of God.

God plants a seed of faith in each of us-
It takes Gods word to develop your faith - ( Life Long Process )
So if you fill your head which leads to your heart or core being with junk out side of Gods word then your faith ( Gods WORD ) in you can not grow and produce the fruit that it should.

Just so you know.........your very own words - play a heavy and most important part on what you beleive. Try this little test........begin to spell your name inside your head ( quietly ) then out loud with your mouth - speak the alphabet........What happened to the spelling of your name in your head ?

That is how our brains function.......it does not matter if you beleive this or if you do not - it does not change how the brain works........Your Very Own Words gains your brains full attention - even if you dont see this. You speak something enough and it becomes rock solid in how you beleive.

You can tell a lie bragging you did something day after day and eventually - you will truly beleive you did it and forget it was a lie.........it is the way the brain works........

Blessings Kj.............

Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Sigh. Who has ever said we go by what we feel?
Sigh I was actually showign that God IS interested with the words we speek and my first reply was to quote the scripture that we will have to give an account of every IDLE word ..... I then proceeded to show what was an idle word and compared that with words that do a work.

and what you should have noticed was the scriptures I was quoting and you have simply confirmed are scriptures that show God is concerned by our words.

What you may have latched on but did not understand was that a man may not be good at articulating what is in his heart .
he should by and by learn to give a good account of the hope that lieth with in him. But as in Prayer when we know not what to pray or even pray well or articulate . The Spirit makes groanings that cannot be uttered and the burden of God on the heart is given expression not with words but with sighs and tears and groanings.

So I think perhaps your post was directed else where for it does not apply to what i said or think or do.

in Christ
