What scripture speaks to you?

I would like to start a thread on what scripture is speaking to you or something that you have meditated on recently. Post a few verses and comment on what/how/why these verses are affecting you in your walk with God.
Others can respond with their thoughts also to discuss unique insight or meaningful truths.

I will start with: Subject: Taking action.
1 Thess 1:3 As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
Eph 4:1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.
Eph 4:11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
Eph 3:20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Heb 13:21 may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him.

All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

These really speak to me about taking action, thinking about what my purpose is in Christ. We get so busy with our things that need done that we need reminded of what we should have our mind on. The words contained in these verses are full of gravitas.
As I was typing the following, I saw that every two words went together for more impact:
Faithful -- Loving Enduring -- Desire Worthy -- Responsibility
Equip -- Power Build -- Unity Knowledge -- Mature
Complete -- Glory Mighty -- Work Infinitely -- Produce

I won't expound now as I'm off to work, but I've been dissecting

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

There is no place for blind faith when you break down these words... I'll do that soon for y'all :) Have a great day and God bless! Off to the blessed work God gave me :D

Faith is NOT Blind for Faith see's where it is going - it is us who have to learn to get inline with faith. ;)

Psalm 23:5
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil:
my cup runneth over.

I'm finding nurture and sustenance despite the presence of particular
'enemies' trying to influence my life. The Lord's presence, to prepare
all that I need (pertaining to life and godliness) is very real for me.

Psalm 31:19-20
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast
laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast
wrought for them that trust in thee before the
sons of men!

Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence
from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them
secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

As we live out our faith before watching eyes, the Lord is faithful to
provide sufficient grace to keep us, and to influence others we are
in contact with at the same time.

1 Cor 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

Paul is not talking about a competition between us. He is talking about keeping up the good fight. It is human nature to want the easy way out. We want immediate victory over a problem. Paul is urging us to hang in there and stay Christian in our circumstance / place God has put us. That annoying job or annoying 'family / friends' you go home too. Whatever it is. Run in such a way to get the prize = put your all in to doing His will where you are / hang in there with all you have.

This verse is always on my mind as many things always get under my skin...as happens to us all I am sure .

God can move a Galaxy for crying out aloud, why can't I be the president and as rich as Richy Rich??? Our flesh....(n)

A few Scriptures that have been standing out to me are
John 14:21.....he who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who love Me. And he who Loves Me, will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and Manifest Myself to Him.

How many times have we read this verse and never realized that if we are doing things (like walking in Love and forgiveness) opposite to what the Word of God and Jesus commands, that Jesus says that we don't love Him. So how can i be walking or acting like an unbeliever, and expect God to manifest Himself to me. Or the Holy Spirit to teach me or talk to me. How can i truly expect anything but strife and trials when i am opening the door to sin, by fully ignoring God's ways. Matthew 6:33 says to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all His righteousness (or ways of doing and being right) and all these things shall be added unto you. So if i am seeking God and all His ways...then all of my needs shall be fully taken care of, and i shall have nothing to worry about. And i can Mark 11:22b....Have Faith in God.

Blessings of grace and peace be yours in abundance

Scriptures which talk about our attitude as a Christian, really speak to me. And this is one of those:

Philippians 3:
12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind
.

Don't dwell on what is behind you, strive for the prize which lays ahead of you.
If some think wrongly, God will reveal this to you.

Good Scriptures! Hopefully the one that God is speaking to is open to listening and receiving :)

Oh Oh, Jesus "ponders" the thoughts in my heart, how can I say anything but be so humbled and broken before Him knowing this

(Pro 21:2) Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering hearts.

(Pro 5:21) For over-against the eyes of Jehovah are the ways of each, And all his paths He is pondering.

(Pro 24:12) When thou sayest, `Lo, we knew not this.' Is not the Ponderer of hearts He who understandeth? And the Keeper of thy soul He who knoweth? And He hath rendered to man according to his work.

(Jer 32:19) Great in counsel, and mighty in act, in that Thine eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of Adam, to give to each according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

(Jer 23:24) Is any one hidden in secret places, And I see him not? an affirmation of Jehovah, Do not I fill the heavens and the earth? An affirmation of Jehovah.

(Jer 17:10) I Jehovah do search the heart, try the reins, Even to give to each according to his way, According to the fruit of his doings.

(Job 34:21) For His eyes are on the ways of each, And all his steps He doth see.

(Joh 2:24) and Jesus himself was not trusting himself to them, because of his knowing all men ,
(Joh 2:25) and because he had no need that any should testify concerning man, for he himself was knowing what was in man.

(Eze 36:26) And I have given to you a new heart, And a new spirit I give in your midst, And I have turned aside the heart of stone out of your flesh, And I have given to you a heart of flesh.

Oh Jesus thank you for giving me a New Heart and New Spirit in my flesh heart as promised!

So important to seek Him. You are right, ignoring Him is not loving Him. Something Pastor John Hagee once said, God wants to hear from you. If you only talk to Him in the bad times, then more bad times will follow you so you will continue talk to Him. So pray in the good times too! (Paraphrased from memory)

And verse 26-27 : 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

Oh discipline and subjection! Enemies of our flesh. No wonder Paul says "what a wretched man I am".

While i can agree with what you said.....part of what Pastor Hagee said i think needs to be clarified. The reason for the bad times is because the more time one spends behaving like the world, and talking like the world...the more of an open door that is created for the devil to come in and make our life miserable, creating those bad times. If we are constantly rejoicing and speaking to God in the good times as well as the bad, then we develop a closer walk with Him and the less likely we are to be crying out in anguish or in need of rescue.

Hello @Big Moose,

The verse which came to my mind as I read your opening words, was not recent, but obviously made an impact for it to come to mind like this. It comes in the closing words of the epistle to the Ephesians.

'Peace be to the brethren,
and love with faith,
from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.
Amen.'

(Eph 6:23,24)

What impressed me was the emphasis on 'sincerity', because I read it as a 'quality', a necessary quality that should be true of each one of us, who say we love the Lord Jesus Christ. That love should be sincere.

Yet looking at the marginal notes in my Bible, I was surprised to find that it had quite another meaning. It has the meaning of, 'un-corruptness' (1 Cor. 15:42) and is also translated, 'immortal' in Romans 2:7; so does not relate to the quality of our love for Christ at all, but to the atmosphere of grace which makes that love possible. For, It is the grace of the Lord that is imperishable, incorruptible and immortal.

It is within that position of pure grace that we are able to live and move and have our being in Christ. It is within the surety of that grace that we can love our risen, glorified Lord in the power of His resurrection. Let us seek to love with all sincerity, and rest upon a grace that reaches out beyond the grave to the limitlessness of eternity.

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus

Brethren,
I count not myself to have apprehended:
but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind,
and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark
for the prize of the high calling of God
in Christ Jesus.'

As I contemplated this post, I was struck with another possible interpretation for aphtharsia. When I read the meanings, I came up with "without limits". This seems to encompass "genuine unending existence".
So, the verse would read, "Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ without limits."

Jeremiah 17:7-8: But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

No matter what challenges we are facing today. We should keep pressing forward. The road might be difficult at first but in the end it will be all worth it. God is in control. Relax, no need to worry we just need to surrender everything to Him.
Praise God!

Hello Elizabeth,
When reading your post, I remembered notes that I have on this verse, which particularly blessed me when I found them. They came from the appendix at the back of my Bible. I thought you may like to read them, so here they are:-

Psalm 1:3
"He shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water."

* Here, the similitude tells us that the man who meditates in God's word is planted and protected, just as a tree in a garden is cared for as a "tree of the field" is not.

Prov. 21:1

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD,
as the rivers of water:
he turneth it whithersoever he will"
-

* The King's heart, as the rivers of water, is in the hand of the Lord

The expression "rivers of water" is in the Hebrew (palgey mayim) ‘Palgey’ means - ‘divisions of‘. Palgey mayim is the technical term for the little channels, or gullies, of water which divide the Eastern garden into small squares of about 12 feet each, for purposes of irrigation. Hence the word is used for any little channel by which the water is distributed or divided, especially the channels which divide up a garden. It is used also of the trickling of tears. In Ps. 1:3 the man who meditates in the law of God is like a tree planted by ‘the palgey mayim‘, (ie., in a garden), where it will have a sure supply of water and the constant care of the gardener! Not left out in the plain to shift for itself: to thrive if it gets water, and to die if it does not!.

These little channels were filled by the gardener with water from the spring, or well, or fountain, which every Eastern garden must possess: and then the water was sent first into one channel, then into another, by the simple movement of his foot: "the land whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and waterdst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs" (Deut. 11:10). The gardener did not deign to use a tool, or to stoop down and use his hands. By simply moving the foot he dammed up one little stream, or by a similar movement he released the water in another. So,

"The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord as ‘the palgey mayim’ (are in the hand of the gardner): He turneth it whithersoever He will."

The teaching of the passage then is that just as the little channels of water in a garden are turned about by the gardener by the simple movement of his foot, so the king's heart is as easily turned about by the Lord. "withersoever He wills."

* Oh how full of comfort for ourselves, for our friends, for our children, to know this, and to be assured of it!

"On that night could not the king sleep" (Est. 6:1). A sleepless night! The king's heart turned - the law of the Medes and Persians reversed - and Israel delivered.

Oh how simple! Let us never again limit His almighty power - for it is almighty power that is required to turn the heart of man. We know how difficult it is to convince even a friend on the simplest matter of fact. But let us remember that the heart of even an Eastern despot is as easily turned by the LORD's mighty hand as the palgai mayim are turned by the simple movement of a gardener's foot.
Dr Bullinger

Within the love of Christ our Saviour,
Chris
