Ask and you shall receive

We all know the verse. But here is some clarification to it:

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

1 John 3:22-23

As you can see, we get what we want once we follow God's commands. And once we follow God's commands, our desires will line up with His will. We will hate carnal things, and love godly things. And God will give them to us according to His will.

What are carnal things and what are Godly things juk?

What are carnal things and what are Godly things juk?
Godly things would be things such as wisdom and understanding, praying that someone else would be saved, and righteousness. And carnal things would be selfish and sinful. I'm not saying that praying for something such as getting over a sickness is selfish or sinful, but something like praying that someone has something unfortunate happen to them because of what they said to you is carnal and sinful.

No Juk that is not correct and here is why,
Lets start with this one first-
Juk said, "but something like praying that someone has something unfortunate happen to them because of what they said to you is carnal and sinful."

Yes it is a sin to pray anything like this. It is a sin to wish it or even think it. That is at odds with the written word of God. Walking in Love and in forgiveness. Scripture tells us to love our enemies. So one can not ever entertain such a thought as this.

Now lets look at carnal - is onto death and spirit is onto life.
Carnal is the worldy way and spirit is the Godly way or FAITH.
Now lets tear open this carnal into a new level here -

Any time a Christian acts out of fear or doubt or unbelief they are operating carnal minded or another words as a non born again natural man or person.

Remember Carnal = death or lack of faith which is not walking in the spirit or in Gods ways.
Spirit is life and is Faith and walking in Gods ways.

Now then satan comes right now to steel - kill and destroy for the words sake. Another words satan wants to make sure yoou do not feed and water the word (seed) that you just heard in order to keep this seed ( Gods Word ) from taking root and then growing. Remember seed always grows down before it grows up. It must take root.

Why does all this matter ? Simply put - satan has a purpose - to keep you from growing and speaking Gods Truth. The devil will use persecution which is pressure and 4 other things or ways to get this done. Where am I going with this?

Right here - any doubt - fear - unbelief or questioning Gods word -LIMITS OR WEAKENS FAITH. So if your faith is weakend then the seed wont be taking root and if the seed is not taking root there is NO GROWTH and if there is no growth then the devil is stealing Gods word and if he is stealing Gods word then you will slowly begin to operate as a natural man or one with out faith or a carnal minded Chriastian.

I will address the rest later. I want to stick to one point at a time other wise to much gets lost and left out. However Juk i would like to pull in every other scripture that speaks about praying - receiving - and His will.

Are you up to it with me ?
Have a very blessed and joyful day
God Bless

Amen, I agree on that Mr. Jim…. a good description of what is Carnal….

Interesting, what is "Carnal":

Am thinking: if we relate that to the Greatest Commandment:
The first Commandment refers to our relationship towards God.
The second Commandment is towards ourselves and our fellow man…

The examples mentioned : doubt, fear, unbelief : are Carnal seems refers to First commandment: our relationship to God.

And what am trying to say: there is also Carnal that relates to the Second Commandment: (a) relationship within ourselves (b) between one another…

And what is this? an example I have in mind for the (b) is: envying, and strife, and divisions.... This in view of the following verse by Paul:

1 Corinthians 3:3-4King James Version (KJV)
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

just a thought : )

Exactly Aha - what a thought indeed.
Now you know it is said that where there is STRIFE there is every kind of evil. Perhaps this explains why satan works so hard to cause divisions and Strive amongst the brethren.

The sad thing Aha is that far to many brethren fall into this and do not even know it or grasp that they have. I mean simply arguing with each other to prove your point - no matter if you are correct or not - it is simply carnal minded or acting or walking as a natural man which simply put is just a man that is not born again. Or walking in the flesh and not the spirit and that choice is up to us each and every time. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth does speak. ;)

Thanks Aha for this awesome display of truth.
Know ye are the blessed

Hi Brother Jim. You said..
"Right here - any doubt - fear - unbelief or questioning Gods word -LIMITS OR WEAKENS FAITH."
I understand that, but is that even possible for us? What exactly shouldn't we fear or doubt? Suppose say for example...someone steals your apple. You pray that God will bring back the apple, but then you begin to think that maybe they've already eaten the apple. Would that be doubting God's power or would that just simply be accepting reality that this person that stole the apple may have eaten it. Suppose that person was hungry, what is the possibility of that apple really returning to you? Was I being doubtful? or was i just accepting reality as it is?

I guess what I'm trying to ask is....how do we live in "reality" but still keep our faith. If you understand what I mean. I'm not sure im asking this question in the correct way. :D It's a confusing thing for me.

That I think I missed in my post#5 in relation to the Great Commandment : )
The second commandment is a relationship towards (a) our self and (b) towards others.

Towards ourselves: I think Paul discussed it lengthy in Romans 7
“14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.”
“24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”
“25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”

I think, it seems to me, what you are trying to say is Fear is a Reality, a Natural thing….

Fear is Carnal I think, since human beings are Carnal, we Fear… and that is Natural… since we are yet Carnal…

Once we are no longer Carnal : that is: we DIE from it, what is there to Fear?

Thus: I think, the source of Fear is being so glued to worldly, that is: carnal cares…. thus: as our Teacher, Jesus Christ says:
Luke 17:33
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Okay. I understand. But we are human beings, we are souls in this body we are borrowing until we leave. Is it saying then that we should be so dead to the world that even if we are starving to death, our children are starving to death and they are sick and in pain (just a scenario),we should be so dead to this world that we shouldn't feel anything? No fear that our children are suffering and we have no income? Is that truly possible for a human being?

Well Phonix if fear and doubt and unbelief weakens faith then it would have to be things oposed to His written word. Example - You feel a cold coming on - Yoou search for healing scriptures and prosperous health scriptures. You pray them and you know God said Yes and amen - so you know that this cold is not going to take root - NOW THEN - here comes the devil and people saying God is not going to heal you - girl that cold is going to keep ytou down for 5 weeks.

What you do next or how you react is the key -
Allow those words oposed to Gods word take root and then you fall into doubt - unbelief - and fear.
Allow the spirit man to rise up and it is NO WAY ! I am healed and no weapon formed against me shall prosper. You only say what Gods word says and you wont except anything less. You said the devil and those unbelieving people packing

Thats how -
God Bless

We don't allow ourselves to feel the negative...because our trust is in God to supply our needs when we cannot seemwith our natural eyes where the provision is coming from. And the reason why we can trust is because God's Word says that He will provide in famine for those who wokrship and praise Him, (meaning a believer).

We live in reality...by keeping our hope in God's Word. One has to live in reality with God's Word colored glasses on. Meaning our reality is what God says in His Word, and as we speak that reality (found in God's Word) then it gives the angels that are on this earth to minister to those of us who are inheriting salvation, the things to do. The angels can only hear understand and act upon the Word of God. If someone steals your apple....forgive them and ask God to bless them, then trust God to provide you with another apple. :)

Ohhhhhhh, I see what you are saying. I'm not sure I have that strength yet. I'll pray and ask but once people say something discouraging I start to think about what they say instead of what I know. I guess I need a little more faith eh? :)

:D
Its some challenge walking with the colored glasses on especially when everything is going against you.Ooooo...here is another question...like @Juk said..suppose God wants to give you a cold. Lets say someone stole your apple...you felt in your heart that the apple is yours so you pray and feel at peace knowing that the apple is coming back. But then, someone told you they noticed your apple in a vendors stall and it was about to be sold to someone. And that you are stupid to hold on to hope that hope that you'll get back the apple. Then someone else says....maybe the thief ate it. The apple is gone. Give up. Then someone comes and says...the apple was in a child's hand who was on their way to another country. How then do you hold on to the faith? How do you know then for sure that God wants you to have that apple? Suppose in all those people telling you stories about the apple..it was God saying....give up on the apple...I dont want you to eat that apple. How do you know for sure then...what you should pray and ask for? And if you should keep faith that you'll get it or not? I know with me.....I normally lose the faith once it seems bleak because then...i think...maybe God changed his mind...or maybe he didnt want that for me after all. How do I know its a test vs if I should just give up?:confused: What exactly should I focus on? Should I focus on trying to keep faith that the apple is coming back or just general faith that God will take care of me?

Jim

You can have all the faith in the world that you won't get sick, and still get sick. Faith does not give us invulnerability to the curse of the world.

Just one thing. Pretty sure that God would not use sin to communicate. Two sins there: Lying and stealing.
