Growth: How to surrender and successfully fight sin.

Hello,

I have been saved for about two years now now, but sometimes I still struggle with living the Christian life. For example not getting upset so easily, viewing myself as God views me, etc. I've learned that the reason I keep failing is because I am trying to defeat sin through my own strength --and not through the Holy Spirit. I heard a wonderful sermon the other day, about relying on the Holy spirit, and not on the flesh, to successfully live the christian life. My question is, How does one learn to live through the Holy Spirit?

This may sound like a silly question, but I figured I'd ask because it's important to me. For those of you who have learned to do this, how do I really "give up" and let God take control?

P.S. I apologize if this is the wrong section to post this type of question.

Maurice Hello,
Hey you are not alone and it is a work in progress that every single one of us goes through. The one thing to grasp as it seems you have just been shown this is - letting go and not getting in Gods way. We can make this a much harder and longer growth time then need be by simply not submitting to God. Any way here are 3 main scriptures that will put you ahead if you truly put them to work for you.

Galatians 5:16 and Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Romans 12:2 ....
And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God

(( Get His word in you each and every day and speak His word each and every day ))

2 Corinthians 10:4-5
4... For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to pulling down strong holds
5... Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

(( Begin to practice the words you speak and thoughts you think for our thoughts and words to control how we act or react and believe. Our own words do more to influence our thinking then most of everything else. ))

Galatians 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh

(( The more you do the first two the more you will begin to walk in the Spirit and you will be amazed to say the least. ))

All done through the Grace of God
who maketh all grace abound to me. ( 2 Corinthians 9:8 )
Blessings and love in Christ
Jim
