Conviction

Every time I turn around I am running into Christians who arte fighting against any use of the word covinction as a Godly term. I mean it is getting a lots of attention and it is being pushed as the Holy spirit never convicts us and those who say so are teaching false. They believe convincing is the propper term and others.

I have shown them the difference between condemnation and convicted and conviction. Even brought in websters as well. No good. They claim only the wicked and lost experience conviction. I yi yi ;)
Any input on this ?

To be honest with you, I have never heard of this! I thought it was a common phrase among Christians to be convicted by the Holy Spirit when you have done something wrong (or about to). Huh. I wonder if this is one of those politically correct things that have seeped into churches?

Brother I do not know.......I was taught the same. So in my search for extra thought i searched the net and I had no idea so many people were claiming this now a days.

I have as few trying to convince me that satan has a chance to repent and so much more junk.
Some peoples wisdom astounds me Brother.

There is a marked difference between convincing and convicting. The Holy Spirit will do both. He will convince when we need to be persuaded of something and He will convict when we sin and He wants us to repent.

Exactly...........but many are using the word to say something else for there really is not much said about the Holy spirit convicting believers.

I think it partly has to do with confusing conviction with condemnation. The former is positive and leads to repentance and edification, the latter is negative and leads to wallowing and destruction.

Well Jim, it is that time of history:

2 Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV)
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Isn't conviction when the Holy Spirit tells us that we just messed up? I heard that this is supposed the happen every single time we sin, and if it doesn't happen, the Holy Spirit most likely left us. Any thoughts?

Wow! I am yet to come across anyone like that.. At least among believers. I know different cults believe in different things. I have not see this in proper Churches though. interesting. Something that I will keep in mind when interacting with people. So that I don't fall of my chair or something!!

My thoughts on this......the truth is hard to swallow so we find ways to water it down to make a bit more comfortable to injest

I think that the Holy Spirit has not left...it's just we have been ignoring Him for so long, or don't know His voice...so we assume that He is gone.

Hopefully that is so. That means that I still have a chance.
Brother Juk,
You have a chance - It is growing Brother - if you think you have ignored The Holy Spirit and can not hear Him now then - get a spiritual ear cleaning - Really Juk - Simply repent and begin to listen through His written word and do what you know you should.

Hey listen here is a tip - when we try to get over on something - say your mom says no you can not have this or that but you still want it and find other ways to get it until you do. It is things like this that dull our ears to the Holy Spirit as well. Even though it seems inocent it is still a form of rebellion and it never flies well.

Juk I had to learn this and so did every one else and some I believe are still in need to learn this, lol It is all part of growing up - You have heard of growth pains ? lol well we have spiritual ones too as we grow.
Blessings

Juk,
what happened when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Did you get a new Spirit placed in you like everyone else did? Do you realize that the Spirit that was placed in us was the Holy Spirit? And the verse that says that He will never leave you nor forsake you? Doesn't that apply to you?
