When does the war of Psalms 83 takes place?

I have read many opinions on when the war described in Psalms 83 takes place.

Would anyone like to speak as to when it will happen. It seems that it involves Damascus, Israel and even Iran.

Is there any correlation with the Psalm and what we see today in the Middle East as Syria has ISIS as being in their country?

I take it to be Armageddon. But it could just be a major war of Christian nations defending Israel.
I think Armageddon because of
verse: 18 Then they will learn that you alone are called the Lord,
that you alone are the Most High,
supreme over all the earth.

Armageddon is the only scripturally revealed instance of God's enemies learning that the LORD is the one true God.
As I read it over again, the Psalmist is asking and pleading with God for Him to take these actions against these enemies of Israel. I don't think is necessarily a prophecy of anything to come. I think it is an example of how Israel should ask God for protection from and action against their enemies.
Interesting though that Lot's descendents are mentioned here in verse: 8 Assyria has joined them, too,
and is allied with the descendants of Lot. (NLT)

I like the NLT version for this passage. Much is made of Ishmael's descendants being Israel's enemies. I never thought about Lot's line also being enemies.

Have you thought that it may be before Ezek. 38 and might then in fact lead Russia to fulfill Ezek.38 as she come to Syria's aid???

The list of offenders are there:

Psalms 83:6-8 (KJV)
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

This list is:
Edom = were those of the Negev south to Saudi Arabia
Ishmaelites = Saudi Arabia
Moab = Southern Jordan, northern Saudi Arabia
Tyre = Lebanon
Ammon, Gebal, Lot = Northern Jordan
Assur = Iraq
Philistines = Gaza, PLO
Amalek = Egypt's Sinai
Hagarenes = Syria/Jordan

I believe Psa 83 was the war of Israel's independence. Here are the players in that war:
Egypt, Anglo-Egyptian, Sudan, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Holy War Army, Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen, Arab Liberation Army, Muslim Brotherhood

Matches right up.

Remember they told the Arabs to leave so they could drive them into the sea and keep them from being a nation!

Psalms 83:4 (KJV)
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

Could be.

For all practical purposes though, this is not yet done. They may have tried and failed once, but the chance is slim they are not going to try again.
Or how do you think?

They won't succeed... Only the Antichrist will overrun Israel. That's why I think this was their war of independence... the next war will be Isaiah 17 with ISIS (IS or ISIL) I think. Gog-Magog war I think will ussur in the Antichrist. Then when he does his God act in the temple, Israel is to flee to Jordan, which makes sense since they have a peace treaty, which also bolster the idea Psa 83 is the war of Israel's Independence, and/or the Yom Kippur War. Just my thoughts.
