Depending on the Holy Spirit

Galatians 2:20
Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that. The Message

We are on a journey! God gives us spiritual road markers that mark our progress in our walk with the Lord. We are all unbelievers, even when born into a Christian home. Unbelief is universal. Then Salvation is the first marker. It marks the transition from unbeliever to belief in Jesus as Saviour. As we grow, as a child does, our spiritual growth increases, and our faith increases in proportion to our service to the Lord.

John 13:35
"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other." The Message

James 2:17
Isn't it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense? The Message

Stage 2: Fruitful Inadequacy
In this stage, God keeps us from being motivated my ego and pride. This is a difficult period of discovery, as we come to grips with our inabilities--- our own strength, wisdom, courage and determination are just not enough! The common attitude is: “Why should I rely on the Holy Spirit if I can succeed on my own merit?” This results in incorrect responses. Instead of admitting our weakness, we try harder! Meanwhile, God is working to bring us to that place of admission and submission, collapsing finally under the weight of our own sufficiency, and falling into the arms of the Holy Spirit! It is His desire that we not work in our own strength, but operate solely under His power.

Stage 3: Spiritual Dependency
The next stage is Spiritual Dependency. The disciples themselves were not powerful enough to strike out on their own even having walked with Jesus for 3 years! The Lord instructed them to stay in the city until they were “clothed with power from on high” the power of the Holy Spirit…

Luke 24:49
“What comes next is very important: I am sending what my Father promised to you, so stay here in the city until he arrives, until you're equipped with power from on high.” The Message

The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, and He works within us to energize us, work through us, supply us with wisdom and power to accomplish God’s purposes every day, no matter what we face!

Questions:

1. How does Proverbs 3:5-6 relate to self-sufficiency versus dependency upon God?

“ Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.”

2. What part of your life have you not relinquished to God’s control?

3. What is your fear in letting Him take charge?

Confess your hesitancy and ask the Lord to help you trust Him with that area.

Blessings Euphemia,
Not to long ago as I was involved in a intense study of Mark 4 and I learned alot about the different grounds which is always us and the big thing is this way side. I had no idea that there is two basic actions of way side people and that each and every Christian can have area's in their lives that is way side or off limits.

Say God decides He wants to talk to you about, oh I dont know uh ok say quick reacting to others and not simply waiting before replying or snapping off. Then you have other things on your mind and you do not give attention to this thing God wants to deal with, well you just became way side in this area.......

This startled me someting awlful and I began to think about it and ya know, it is easy to see where we can be way side in area's from day to day. I warn you if you think you are not like this, well dont pray and ak God to show you then because you will not want to grasp how many times one has become way side.

The, you's and so forth are people in general and not Euphemia or any one...
God Bless
Jim

Way side people...Two Types
First type...You try to tell them something, lets say the word of God on something. They are like naugh stay away from me. This type will not even consider what is being said or His word or revelation truth about something in His word. Wont even consider it or pray about it.

The other is those who seem interested and seem to listen but are to busy thinking about something else and quickly shut off what is being said. Like in one ear and out the other.

These two people are the ones satan does NOT even have to do anything to steel the word out of. They inflict them selves.

This is as good as I can write it at the moment. I have notes and things else where and this is just what I can recall to put it into words that might be understood easier.

It sounds as if you are describing people who choose not to be teachable, who aren't malleable in the Father's hands. I am sure the bible describes them as "stiff-necked" people. Am I close?

Yep kind of getten there. Cturtle also reminded in here that Mathew 13:15 is these kind of people too and which we did go over into Mathew when we got to the way side.

For sure the passage about the Sower is one of my all time favourites. I can learn and re-learn something every time I read it.

You know the strange thing about this Parable is how so many of our Brethren believe this is only talking about a true Christian (good ground) and the rest are the un-saved. Strange because each ground represents a Christian heart.

The other thing I find strange is how most of the brethren fail to see that this parable also teaches us the 5 main area's or ways satan can get to us. There is two more and that is the way side but thenh again weay side is self inflicted and satan does not have to do a thing.

The devil will use one or a combination of the 5 ways here and he will camouflage them but they are still these 5 main ways. No wonder so many brethren have so much problems and lack in different area's of their life.
Blessings
Jim

You know Jim, maybe I am just tired right now or a bit slow but I am just not seeing this in this parable. I mean I can see the logic behind what you are saying but I am not seeing what you are saying present in this parable.

Mykuhl Hello,
I know I told you that I would post this today but it was a very long and trying day and I just really do not want to start on it but I will put it together tomorrow after I get up and post it later on that evening.
Please forgive me for not getting it done as I said.
Blessings
