Who will go to heaven?

I understand that only those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ will go to heaven. But what about
those who "neglect" Jesus? They did not reject Him, they accepted His gift. But they neglect Him. They end up doing other things. They didn't lose their Christian way of living, they just didn't ever get into that intimate relationship with God. They end up focusing on Luther things. Will those people go to heaven? Are they really children of God?

I know about the parable with the many different seeds described in the book of Matthew, and Jesus seems to say that those people will not go to heaven. Another Scripture is
1 John 2:19 KJV
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out , that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

One must also be aware of those who claim to be children of God but are not at all.

The bible teaches that no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him. It also teaches that all those that come to Him will by no means be cast out, that no one is able to snatch them out of His hand and that He will raise them up at the last day.

I think it is pretty safe to say that if someone truly accepted Jesus that they are saved even though they didn't live a life fully dedicated to Him. I believe that living like this is a result of being blinded, either by the flesh or by the enemy or both.

I look at it this way: when you are born again you are a new person, and although you have new life, you have to live that life. Compare it to a new born baby....the baby has to grow up and start to learn and do things in order to mature into something right? It can't just sit there and do nothing at all.

I am glad you brought up that parable Juk, because I just learned something new as I thought to respond to it.

Notice that in that parable only one group of seeds bore fruit, all the others didn't. Only those that bear some fruit are really children of God. This idea is supported by many other parts of scripture. That verse in 1John is proving that those that leave/depart from Jesus and never come back were never children of God to begin with. Judas is a good example of this.

In the book of James, we see this same point challenged.. If a person truly accepted Jesus, then it must result in a changed life. Because he or she is no longer the same person. They are a new creation now. If there is no change, then only God would know whether the person truly accepted Jesus or not.

Lets look at the verse Mykuhl...............write it out.

Which verse Jim?
LOl Mykuhl I knew right after I sent this that you would ask which one....You mentioned something from 1John to Juk about those turning away from Jesus.

Lol ok.
I actually was referring to the verse that Juk quoted.

Well how about writing itout andlets talk about it or are you busy ?
I also think it would be a good thread to start on Mark 4 ..the parable of the sower too.
Ok.

19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

Hmm that is not the verse I thought you were talking about.
Must be thinking of another post and confused it with this one.

Why do you feel the Parable of the sower says people wont go to heaven Juk ?

Juk's original question stated "they accepted His gift" and "They didn't lose their Christian way of living." It specifically says in Romans 10:9 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Anything more than that is works. If someone didn't truly accept his gift then that is a whole different situation. But Juk's stipulations in underline are all that is required to get to heaven.

Juk, I highly encourage you to read all of Romans 10 & 11. I think it will answer your question for you. If nothing else, Romans 10, chapters 5 through 13 should make it very clear.

if they truly repented of their sins, and have faith, they will go to heaven. Now, with faith, comes the fruits, if somebody is exhibiting no fruits and is truly living a worldly life, then they were not saved to begin with. Salvation makes you a new creation, you can't "devolve" back into your old creation and stay that way. It's like if a pig were to be changed into a man, the man could not go back to eating slop, and, although we do go back to the slop, the Spirit convicts us. Now some people may make more meals of the slop than others, but overall, they (being saved) are still repulsed by their actions.

On the other hand, you have the lukewarm church of laodecia, where they were thought to be on fire, yet they are blind and dead. Jesus said he vomits them out of his mouth in revelations 3:14-22. None of this sounds like salvation, hence my belief that there is no "lukewarm" Christian. Granted, we all have lukewarm characteristics, and thorns in the flesh, and we are covered by grace. But to be like the laodecian church is to be lost.

Sometimes you can have a man that everybody thinks is going to heaven, but in their heart of hearts, they know they are a fraud. And sometimes you can have a man that, from the outside, is questionable in his faith, but inside he repents, turns away and then rejoices because of grace. And this man will be in the kingdom.

All God has ever wanted of mankind is for us to repent. When we do this today, we find Jesus / He finds us. That is all there is to it.

We actually need to ask your question in reverse. How can someone who hates what is evil and clings to what is good / desires to repent not find / accept Jesus and want an intimate relationship with Him?

God sees through those that claim to be good and not find Him. He searches the depths of our hearts and minds Jer 17:10.

Who will go to heaven?
All those that want to be there.

In heaven things work upside down to earth. In heaven God of the universe will wash your sandals. In heaven the least is the greatest. In heaven you worship much because you actually do love God. You get to heaven because you actually do hate what is evil.

The evil will be completely out of place there. Heaven will be a hell for them.
