How to overcome sexual Lust

Flavio, that is wonderful you started this opening sharing of lust that seem devil's weapon of choice to bring down men of God. I do not have much victory on this area, along with Gluttony. I agree the weakness of both are symptoms of something more serious. This is a real challenge, I guess for both men of women without love and physical intimacy. Not too many people have the gift of being single like Paul. Not sure why it is so difficult for God to send someone into us the singles' life. May be that is another God's special training in patience and abstinence, for what...I really have no idea.

Nothing is difficult for God, and his timing is perfect. Read Isaiah 55, the Lord's ways are in his timing, not ours, and his ways are better.
As for the purpose, it is the same as the purpose found in any temptation. If we had no temptations, we would think we were perfect, yet no temptation we go through will be too much for us as found in 1st Corinthians 10.

For sexual temptation, it is a difficult one, and one that everyone I know has battled and still battles. There are no magic words that will make lust go away, and no amount of guilt will stop it. The first step, for me atleast was finding an accountability partner. Someone wiser and mature in their faith. Then, find the reason you turn to sexual sins. Then whatever that reason is, fill it with God.

We must hand over our sin to God, I know it's pretty general, but there's no 10 step program that work.

I have the same situation here. Can you help me and please pray for me? TIA
Yep for sure we can do that and here is something you can do as well.

Galatians 5:16 and Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Romans 12:2 ....
And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God

(Get His word in you each and every day and speak His word each and every day)

2 Corinthians 10:4-5
4... For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to pulling down strong holds
5... Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

(Begin to practice the words you speak and thoughts you think for our thoughts and words to control how we act or react and believe. Our own words do more do influence our thinking then most of everything else)

Galatians 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh

(The more you do the first two the more you will begin to walk in the Spirit and you will be amazed to say the least)

All done through the Grace of God who maketh all grace abound to me. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Praying for you for sure. Keep your eyes on Jesus and the rest will fall away.

Thanks Cturtle. This one is my battlefield. There are ups and downs but I'm still standing by His grace, mercy and love.

P.S. Can I PM you or any other Senior Moderator for your advice? Thanks

Thanks with that Fish Catcher Jim. All I need is application of His Words. I have attended many seminars, conventions and christian gatherings but without the implication of it, it's nothing.
Thank you again. I will keep those verses.

Hi Karl,
You mentioned once you get the implacation of God's word.

Implacation. ... the conclusion that can be drawn from something, although it is not explicitly stated.

It's Called Faith, Believing, trusting what He said in His word is true.

You get this by getting His word deep into your heart or core being.

You also mentioned you need the application of His Word.
What exactly do you mean here?
Blessings

Application means, you will apply it in your everyday life. Implementation I mean.

Flavio: The fact that you had the courage to share shows great promise. Now that you have shared you have allowed yourself to become accountable to your brothers and sisters in Christ. This and prayer are a very good start, but so is professional help if you feel that you require this step. Many recovery churches offer wonderful 12 step programs that deal with sexual addictions of all sorts. It is just one example of a way to battle this persistent and difficult demon. Getting control over something that is initiated by your mind is very hard to overcome, but not impossible. With God, nothing is impossible.

I am proud of you that you showed so much honesty and courage. May the Lord bless you and help you overcome this problem. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
