How often does the Holy Spirit speak to you?

I only am sure that the Holy Spirit has spoken to me at least once, at most twice. The time when I am almost certain the Holy Spirit spoke to me was when He told me to get my mom's boots for her. I know that it was the Holy Spirit because, unlike a regular thought, I felt a "quickening". My body felt paralyzed of some sort, and the "thought" just shot right at me at full speed.
The second time was through that song I keep telling you guys about. The song that basically said, "It's more than you can handle right now, but don't give up". I was lost in my thoughts, and those lines (those are not the exact lines) grabbed my attention. I still am not entirely sure what God was talking about when He told me this, though.
These are the only two times that the Holy Spirit has talked to me and I have noticed it. How often does the Holy Spirit speak to you? How does the Holy Spirit speak to you when He does? Do you think that my experiences are of the Holy Spirit? How can I make the Holy Spirit talk to me even more, if that is even possible? Sorry for all these questions, but I think they are good ones.

Holy Spirit speaks to me every day, about various things, and most often through His word. He speaks to me with that "still, small voice" deep within my spirit. It is part of the intimacy that we need to develop with Him---knowing His voice and communing with Him is a daily blessing and the source of supply of His wisdom and strength for the coming day, where He knows what is about to come my way, and knows what it is I need to cope.

Mostly through bringing to mind Scripture.
The Scriptures help guide my responses to my circumstances.
But best of all is when I meet new people and I am witnessing to them about the full gospel of salvation
that is outlined in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit guides my conversation and provides
scriptures as needed.
Also in giving to myself and to other saints wonderful testimonies of miracles, healings, transformed lives, and so on.

How often does the Holy Spirit speak to you?
If he didn't speak to me everyday I'd be in a ditch somewhere. He is always moving in my heart, leading my soul in the direction the Lord pleases. Do I always take notice of it? No. Do I need to? No.

How does the Holy Spirit speak to you when He does?
He doesn't so much "speak" as he moves and stirs my spirit. He doesn't speak in audible words, but instead tugs on our spirits in the direction he wants us to move in. Sometimes words may be involved, but I wouldn't say he "speaks" in the same way people do.

Do you think that my experiences are of the Holy Spirit?
They may well be, but I do not have the authority to say yes or no.

How can I make the Holy Spirit talk to me even more, if that is even possible?
Well good luck "making" God the Spirit talk to you more. He is going to say exactly what he needs to when he needs to. You could pray that God would open your heart to understand when the Holy Spirit is speaking to you.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Him speaking to me through Scripture. I usually have thoughts telling me to do things, but they do not stand out to me. They are just like all my other thoughts. So I don't that they are from God's Holy Spirit. But they might be. I am doing to ask God how He speaks to me tonight. I forgot to mention that God also spoke to me through a dream once. It helped me out, and I think it was a test.

The Holy Spirit speaks to me every day through various things. Sometimes when i choose not to pay attention, or am in a foul mood, i cannot hear what He is saying, and He thus gets quiet. But as i repent and then begin to renew my mind to His Word, and thank Him that He renews my mind with what i put in when i read my Bible, i hear Him more often.

I know that others do not think it's important to always be paying attention to the Holy Spirit, but i really disagree. Those times when He speaks, should be precious times to us, and could be the difference between life and death. I herd a testimony about a man who was sitting at his computer, and the Holy Spirit told him to pray for a brother in Christ immediately. Long story short, if he has not obeyed the friend would have died.
The more we choose not to listen, the more our minds kind of put God on the back burner so to speak. And eventually He stops speaking. Or we just become less sensitive to His prompting thus shutting down the power of God in our lives, and the lives of those around us that He wants us to minister to. God can use us if we are willing and paying attention, and saying Sir, yes Sir, i am Yours to command.

He speaks every time I choose to listen.

My question is how. How do I listen?
Through practice.

Learn from Elijah:

1 Kings 19:11-13 (KJV)
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was [so], when Elijah heard [it], that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, [there came] a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
The Holy Spirit is gentle and soft spoken. You need to learn how to listen. Patience. Ask Him.

I already did ask Him.

Now you wait in faith. Patience. It's a process. Moses tried to free his people by killing an Egyptian, and his people rejected him. He went away for 40 years! See the progression:

Romans 5:3-5 (KJV)
And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Here is a warning too: impatience causes frustration, frustration causes anger, anger causes bitterness, bitterness causes everything else negative.

Psalms 27:14 (KJV)
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Thank you, I just want to know what to do. By the way, I just did a Bible study of Habakkuk 1 and it was great.

He is always speaking to us and for us. Learning to listen is the hard part.
The stinker part is that most of us learn to recognize when it is the Holy Spirit speaking through trial and error (mostly error).

I can point to three occasions when I have heard Him speak to me in an impossible to misunderstand fashion.
The first was when He led me to a youth bible study I had not known about (I was no longer a youth and only in town for the weekend).
The second was with Kim, when He let me know that she was the one He wanted me to marry after I had stopped looking.
The third was when I finally surrendered to His calling on me to lead and He told me that 'we' (kim and I together) were not ready yet.

I can tell you that hearing His voice day to day usually requires the one thing that most of us have an extremely hard time with.
Shutting our traps and being quite and still.
It is almost impossible to really hear what someone is saying when we are talking ourselves or bouncing all over the place.

I tried being quiet and still, listening to God several times. How come it does not work.

Ask God to show you how He speaks to you. Then meditate on John 10 about the sheep hearing His voice, trusting God that He will answer. I'll bet that times when you think it's just your thoughts...it's really God.

You have to get to the point that no matter what you see, feel, hear or don't hear...you believe that God is speaking to you and through you. And you only speak what God's Word says.

Another suggestion is to read your Bible outloud to yourself every day. Remembering that God's ways of doing things is through the spoken Word. Just like how He created the earth. And in Romans 10:17 it says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So as you speak the Word to yourself it builds up your spirit, and your faith for the things that God is saying. Read Matthew 12:34b-37. This is a good group of Words from Jesus...that shows you why studying and speaking the Word is a good idea. It is what happens to us when we get the Word of God into our spirits.

Blessings little man!

I will try that today, because there is an issue that I asked God if I should address.
