Bible Verses

I have changed my reading schedule to meditating on a single Bible verse each day. What are some good Bible verses that are useful for meditation? Thanks guys :)

All of them! :) There is nothing wrong with reading a complete book or starting in Gen and going through the bible just to get a general knowledge of scripture.
My favorites are the epistles of Paul, but you will not get a complete understanding from just one scripture or book, as it takes comparing scripture to scripture be fore truth is learned, and that takes time to get it in you. It is the Holy Spirit who will guide you into all the truth, and he will bring to your memory things he has taught you from previous readings. Getting the Word of God in you is the first step.

So I should read the whole Bible first?

You are going to have to do that sooner or later. I did when I first got saved. Before the Holy Spirit can bring to your remembrance what he has spoken to you, you have to have the Word in you first. Juk, just do what your heart is telling you. If you don't know just start somewhere and go from there. I don't think there is a right way or wrong way when it comes reading the Bible. Eventually the Lord will take you where he wants you.

I think I should read the whole Bible first, but taking notes seems useless to me. I remember the verses that I have not written

There is so much in the Bible to learn from. I have been save almost 40 years, and there are a lot of things I do not know.
If you have a good study Bible use it to read the beginning of every book. For instance if you were reading the book of "Hosea", read who this person was, where did he come from, and what did he do. What is the main theme of his book. These help tremendously to give you a general knowledge of scripture.

I have am NLT study Bible.

Hi Juk, for me i think meditating on scriptures that pertain to whatever you are going through is a good place to start. Say you are anxious about something, meditating on verses of peace will provide the comfort that God is right there, and that He loves you, thus building your trust in Him.
memorizing ps 23 is a good one also.

There's no right/wrong in this. Learn to listen to the Holy Spirit. Read, but when you get that twinge in your heart about a verse, take the time to study it. I've been reading Acts this week and a verse popped out for me where Philip was taken by the Spirit and he was found in Ashdod. (!) Now I know where Star Trek got their teleportation idea from! :D

Acts 8:39 (KJV)
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Caught away: the same word Paul used for being caught away to be with the Lord! Awesomeness!

This is a good habit to develop.

There are a lot of passages that are useful to meditate on and for so many reasons; thankfulness, comfort, mercy, etc.

Today, one verse I am meditating on (which was a childhood favorite) is Isaiah 41:10...

"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

I hope it's as useful to you as it is to me.

@Juk you can meditate on God's word by just being observant. Here's an example: Paul was in prison and he was being watched by a Roman soldier, so he studied the soldier and this is what he wrote being led of the Spirit:

Ephesians 6:13-17 (KJV)
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

That's meditation. :)

What if the Holy Spirit does not speak to me?

I do need some encouragement.

How can I learn to listen to the Holy Spirit?

That is some great advice!

well for single verses I find it's always good to read the book of Proverbs.
You can read a chapter a day that way as there are 31 chapters.
