Foot-in-mouth disease

Foot-in-mouth disease

Just wondering...

Do any of you ever find yourselves saying something you wish the moment it left your lips you didn't say it? I'm not even necessarily to something mean or ugly, just something silly or stupid that was not meant to be hurtful or mean, but it was just the wrong thing to say... I seem to do that a lot. I used to do it more often than I do now, but I still do it and I am sincerely wondering why do we do that?!??!!?!!!:mad::mad: Any thoughts, or am I the only one this happens to?...

Laura:)

It happens all the time- I like to call it the Apostle Peter syndrome because the only time he took his foot out his mouth was to change socks!

Ok, now that's funny! I never thought of it that way, but you are so right! It's just so darned frustrating sometimes!! I wonder how he felt after say the mount of transfiguration thing. I mean if Jehovah Himself has to tell you to be quiet... That's a definite yikes, not that I haven't had a few myself...

make your yes mean yes and your no mean no.watch out for quiet members of family, talk as you want to family if there ok.be careful watch for changes in people.know also how your words can affect others without you realising.not easy to walk the walk.

The tongue is indeed hard to tame

Jas 3:3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Jas 3:4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Jas 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
Jas 3:7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
Jas 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

E-specially at funerals:eek:

Why then ??? With me it is something I have had to watch before I say as when you say it , it is too late to take it back.

Sometimes I will say something completely innocently and someone else has taken it the wrong way.

At funerals , though I have learned to let others talk and I give my sympathy and offer to pray for the family but yes , I can see where people can say hurtful things not meaning to.

What is really hard is to express your attitude and personality in a post, at times.
You can be smiling and typing words with all kindness and they can be read completely different than you intended!

You're right Violet. I think that is more difficult because you know what you want to say but it might not come accross the way you were thinking and then be interpreted in a different way.

And of course people cannot always see something as funny and you do. That gets me in a lot of trouble. DUH !!!

Nice banter you guys, keep it up! I like that thing about the more you try to correct something dumb you just said, the worst you shove your foot down your throat! Thanks Violet, I think you nailed it! I've done that so many times, I lost count, however I do believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. Look at it this way: All of us who suffer from "foot-in-mouth" disease, have gotten better at it over time. Like a lady preacher I know says all the time: "I'm not where I should be, but I'm not where I used to be. I'm OK and I'm on my way!" I'm sure you know who I'm talking about Dusty...:D

Laura:)

Foot in mouth syndrome is pretty bad but it could be worse - it could be someone elses foot- LOL!:):D:p

Boanerges, isn't that the truth.

For the most part due to soooo many POVs everything looks different than to those who post.

Just like this statment here:

'The vacuum cleaning business sucks!'

That can be seen as a true statement... vacuums sucks dust.

Or it can been seen as a negative... the vacuum business sucks terribly...
