A Trillion Lives-years Away

Sorry, I HAD to do the pun up there, it will make more sense.

Do you think other life forms worship our God?

This isn't something I have really ever thought of. Do you think that animals worship our God? How about other life forms light-years away?

Worship comes from grasping God is good. A certain level of intelligence is needed for that. Animals don't have that.

I don't think there are other intelligent life forms either. Since intelligence = accountability for sin. God would need to 'die' for them too if He made them. Of course He can, He can do anything. But the evidence doesn't point there. It points to God bearing the marks on His hands for His sacrifice for us, for eternity.

I'd debate that in terms of intelligence. On good/bad or right/wrong, animals certainly can know if they have done wrong at least by our human standards. The most obvious case we had was Portia, a lab/retriever cross when I was growing up. You could come in and tell immediately she had done something wrong (maybe managed to find her way into a food cupboard) . I've not seen another creature look as blatantly guilty as she used to on the few occasions she broke our rules.

Animals also have "personality", eg. within the limitations of them all having a "cat nature", I'd know everyone we had by their relationship with me even if they were all identical to look at.

What I'd wonder more about is whether animals have a spiritual side and have that concept of someone far greater than us who is invisible. Personally, I think they only know their physical worlds.

As to other life forms, I like the idea C.S. Lewis wrote in The Space Trilogy.
He wrote a space trilogy? must get a hold of it:)
Actually I don't agree with KingJ on this either, but I'll explain why.
I believe animals a really very intelligent. They just travel to the beat of a different drum than us.
We have two cats which because of our environment are safer living in the house (they sleep outside in an enclosed area).
living in such close proximity I have observed them using problem solving skills, trying to talk (the way we do) but they lack the vocal Chords I guess.) They look intently at our mouths when we speak, and then sometimes they move their mouths as though trying to vocalize something. definitely their meows are multi syllable and I can usually understand a few things about their mood etc.
And they certainly understand spoken English to a surprising degree.
But I digress.
The Lord God questions Job. :Job 38:41. Who provides for the raven its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and wander about for lack of food? They know who butters their bread. If they cry out to God then in their understanding He must have worth-ship.
Gen 9:5. And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.
So every beast is accountable to God.

As for aliens, in that I agree with KingJ that Jesus would need to be crucified over and over.....unless they (if they exist at all) are without sin.
And in that case since the created universe is marked for destruction, these sinless aliens would need to be rehoused., that might cause a bit of grumbling. But really I think the only extra terrestrials are angels and other heavenly based beings, so I don't expect that any aliens exist.

For sure. Our current pair use a sort of "purr-meow" when they are getting their food dishes. Worthy in particular used to use a "meow-WOW" if he wanted my attention urgently (eg. to be let out for the toilet). A current one has a different approach which is non vocal, I'll be sitting at the computer chair and she deliberately wraps her tail round my legs. In both cases, their idea is/was that I get up and they eg. lead me to the outside door.

For words, Misty, a sort of blue merle cross dog we had was probably the best we had. She would listen to every word said. Could be a bit of a pain though, she knew for example that "Water Lane" usually meant we were going to the beach in a town close to us (it being the road down to the beach) but say "Have you seen that house on Water Lane has been sold at last?" would lead her to get excited. She couldn't get the context within a sentence.

The odds of there not being life on other planets is astronomically high. Look at how many galaxies, solar systems, and planets there are.

I like that!

Yeah, it´s really great!
I don´t think that God needs to inform us about all His actions. It seems to me too fearless to claim that there cannot exist any other life forms because of some racional arguments. At the same time, I don´t claim that there exist some aliens.

I believe that animals are incredibly intelligent in ways we can hardly understand.

Lol Calvin. I don't know how you found those verses :giggle:.

It is stated clearly in the Bible that God created beasts and other forms of life only on the earth and for the purposes of engagements with the humans that are created in His own image. The creation of other forms of life in the universe is not only unmentioned throughout the Bible but would mean as KingJ stated....that Jesus went to another planet and died for them too, something exceedingly unlikely. Therefore, IMO life can only exist on earth.

I think you are right, Robine, that all creation worships God. There are probably different levels of understanding in the creation, but I do agree. I will have to read "The Space Trilogy" by C.S.Lewis. That sounds interesting...what is his take on life forms in outerspace?

I believe the huge amount of "alien phenomena" we see today is proof that something is going on...but I don't think space creatures are the cause. I believe what we are seeing is demonic manifestations from other dimensions, due to the increased demon activity promised in the Scriptures about the Last Days.

I agree...and also, I don't think Jesus' sacrifice was done for the evil angels either.

Correct! Their fate was sealed when they chose to follow Satan.

Hebrews 9:28
"So the Messiah was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people. And he will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly wait for him".

Hebrews 7:27
"Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself."

My dog worships me even when I'm not so good to him...he wags his tail just as fast and furiously when I return home after leaving him for all day or for just a few minutes.
Psalm 145:10, 15-16, 21 These verses seem to imply all creation looks to the Lord for sustenance; and blesses and praises Him.

C.S.Lewis created an idea that the Earth and all the space bordered by that side of moon that we can see (as we can see just half of the moon and the other half is turned away from us all the time) is fallen. But out of this area there exist other intelligences and creations that are not fallen and they worship God. They know about the Earth and try to isolate this fallen space in order to keep themselves clear. In Perelandra, 2nd part of the trilogy, a man from the Earth visits the planet Venus and witnesses to a new emerging kind of humanity. There happens similar struggle with sin as Adam end Eve experienced. It´s the best picture of the world before the fall I have ever heard.
It´s just story, but I really like the idea of other life forms created by God. I can´t say that I believe there are any of them but I like the idea.
But I like fantasy literature, I like elves and hope to meet them one day, I may be weird :)

If I came to visit you with dog treats, they will start worshipping me ;).

wow! A great question.. Takes some time to gather our thoughts before answering such questions :)

I think this question is not applicable for animals. Below verse can be used to explain that. We worship God by Spirit of God. If animals have to truly worship God, they cannot do it in their own. They need Spirit of God. I don't see any evidence for animals to be filled with Spirit of God. So worship of God is not intended for animals. I think Genesis clearly gives the purpose of animals. Animals are probably aware of the Creator. That is not same as worship. They are under the authority of Creator. Does not equal to worship

Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh

Agreed! It would mean exactly that, as God is impartial.

The reason God did not die for the angels is because the angels are a greater creation then us. Unlike us, they are not excused by scripture like Rom 7:15 I do not understand what I do . For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate, I do.
