Do Angels Have An Earthly Ministry Today?

Yes. Some worthy persons have actually been able to see and converse freely with their guardian angels.
I had an absent minded Orthodox friend who regularly misplaced things. He would ask his guardian angel to find them for him
and the items would be left at the doorstep.

If I do have a guardian angel, I think I might have to schedule a meeting with his manager about his work performance...

Jokes aside, I wasn't aware that there were people who believe in guardian angels. What's the origin of that belief?

Excellent question! In the third century A.D., Origen wrote that “each one of us, even to the ‘least’ who are in the church of God” has “a good angel, an angel of the LORD, who guides, warns and governs” (p. 128). More than a century later, Jerome declared that “the worth of souls is so great that from birth each one has an angel assigned to him for his protection” (p. 209). Around that same time, Chrysostom, in his Homily on Colossians 1:15-18, remarked: “For each believer hath an Angel; since even from the beginning, every one of those that were approved had his Angel.... [T]here is a demon present also” (p. 273).

The Bible for one.

Matthew 18:10
"See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

Some early church fathers believed that each person had not only a good angel assigned to him/her, but a demon as well. The belief in guardian angels has been around for a long time, but there is no explicit scriptural basis for it.

It cannot be emphatically answered from Scripture whether or not each believer has a guardian angel assigned to him/her.

Jesus said to His disciples in John 16:7........
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”

John 14:6........
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever."

The Holy Spirit has many functions, roles, and activities. First, He does a work in the hearts of all people everywhere. Jesus told the disciples that He would send the Spirit into the world to “convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:7-11). Everyone has a “God consciousness,” whether or not they admit it. The Spirit applies the truths of God to minds of men to convince them by fair and sufficient arguments that they are sinners. Responding to that conviction brings men to salvation.

Once we are saved and belong to God, the Spirit takes up residence in our hearts forever, sealing us with the confirming, certifying, and assuring pledge of our eternal state as His children. Jesus said He would send the Spirit to us to be our Helper, Comforter, and Guide.

It seems to me that the Holy Spirit is to do what we think angels are doing.

If we look real hard at Matt. 18:10 I think we can come away seeing that the "little ones" mentioned there are actually believers especially when we cross reference that verse to Luke 15:3-7, where it means lost sheep. That means ALL of heaven rejoices when a lost sheep is saved.

And I once had a dear old saint of God tell me that the Lord Jesus Christ came to her during the night and pulled two of her teeth and replaced them with gold ones.

Stories tend to grow more and more as our age does the same.

Indeed, we do have guardian angels. The angels still have a mission and a service to God. We should be welcome to converse with our guardians in asking them to intercede and pray with us.

We may have even seen and spoken to angels, unbeknownst to us of course.

It seems to me that the Holy Spirit is to do what we think angels are doing.

See post #5.
Padre Pio could see and speak freely with his guardian angel. The angel would translate mail that came in languages that Padre Pio could not read.
Padre Pio would also send the angel on errands on occasion.
Padre Pio joked about guardian angels to one of the parishioners saying that "guardian angels are much more reliable than we are, and their sandals never wear out".

Their is both Biblical and a plethora of real world evidence in support of the existance of guardian angels.
There is an endless amount of literature on this out there, one need only read it without a jaundiced eye.

i wonder what's other's opinion on the Matthew 18:10....

as i understand, 1/3 of the angels was cast out, and the 2/3 remains...

that will be 2:1 ratio ....

thus, am quite comfortable with the ratio : )

just in case there is one devil wandering around, there will be 2 angels on alert.... : )

So, if I am to understand your meaning, a delusional old woman lied about her experience, so therefore, every other experience is also false.
Is that what I am to gather from this?

Come on brother! You know exactly what I am saying. Events tend to happen differently than when they actually took place and you know that as well as I do. As we all grow older, the stories we remember change in our mind. We all do it and if you don't now, you soon will!

Do you really believe a man sent an angel on a work detail for him???? I am sure he was a wonderful person but everyone tends to exaggerate things.

Good1! Then post some from the Bible and we can discuss them. I have no concern about the literature out there or the stories which abound out of the minds of men. What would be the Bible verses that we could read and consider. A spiritual matter should have a spiritual answer and not one from someones experiences.

Blessings to you!

And some say exactly what they see. You discount everything that does not agree with your world view.
Yes, the man sent the angel on errands. Friends do things for each other.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if any of us were virtuous enough that we could call the angels friends?

Why do you think that it is angels in view in Matt, 18:10?

Absolutely it would!

I am not discounting anything Glomung. I am simply asking you if you believe that. You said you did so wonderful. WHY such anger????
