Now let’s pay special attention to one of the sin list passages …
“He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly,
unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death.” (Rev 21:7-8)

Some people insist that these sin lists refer only to unbelievers …
but here we see that the unbelieving are just another member of one of the sin lists!

Please, everyone, give your opinion on this.

I've never understood the point of "lists" such as these, I do believe that it draws a person towards legalism.

There is only one sin, that is rebellion against God. The rest is trivia.
We all sin. We are all rebellious in varying ways (hopefully small ways).
How persistant a person is in their rebellion is what determines whether or not a person is damned.

Also, what may be a damning fault in one, may not be so for another.
As Padre Pio said "one can drown in the sea, another choke on a glass of water, are they not both dead?"

I've never understood the point of "lists" such as these, I do believe that it draws a person towards legalism.
".... are they not both dead?"
Thou shouldest be complaining to the Lord about it ... He made the lists!
But thanks for the compliant anyway.
No, we are both alive (for 3 more years) ... inside (not a) joke.

Yeah, yeah, okay ... but why not give some explanation(s) of the passages?
What are you saying? ... Scripture's okay, but who can understand it?
I guess what I'm saying is that there's no way to escape some of those things. So to what extent should we fear a punishment of hell if we are all guilty of some of those things? We try not to sin, but we do, is our repentance going to be enough?

I guess what I'm saying is there must be an explanation for those tough verses.
But, 90% of those on Christian forums just complain about them.

Yes, of course it is! ... It was in the old covenant, and it is in the new covenant as well ...

“He who covers his sins will not prosper,
but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” (2 Chronicles 15:2)

“Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God,
“and not that he should turn from his ways and live? …
“Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin.
Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed,
and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit.” (Ezekiel 18:23-31)

"But IF we (continue to) walk in the light as He is in the light,
we (continue to) have fellowship with one another, and
the blood of Jesus Christ His Son (continues to) cleanses us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
IF we (continue to) confess (repent of) our sins, He is faithful and just

to (continue to) forgive us our sins and to (continue to) cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin.
And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
(1 John 1:7-2:1)

There's roughly 55 "items" on the list. I've done about 50 at one point or another.

That's still an A! Woo-hoo!! [emoji6]

Methinks I will add this to the bottom of the OP ...

And just previous to murderer is another member, cowardly.
Now, what could this be referring to?
IMO, it could refer to BACs not running from the persecution of Christians (even unto death).
Also, it could refer to BACs not agreeing to take the mark of the beast (just to feed their families).

As usual, I ask for constructive criticism.

Running from persecution is wise! Matt 10:23.
Taking the mark of the beast to feed your family is selfless / noble!

A coward is someone who runs from a lion, leaving his wife and kids to die. He deserves hell!

The sin list can refer to believers. But the difference is.... a Christian is someone who makes a 'mistake' of sin. A sinner is someone who chooses to live in sin (sinner / adulterer). We all have sin, but we are not all sinners. If we hate sin we seek to repent. If we love darkness we will not repent.

John 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
Rom 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

There is more to this list of sin. 1 Cor 6:9-13 for example touches on mortal sins. The more evil the sin, the less chance there is of sincere repentance / any desire to hate sin. Adulterers are not beyond hope as long as they are living, but they are certainly testing God's patience.

Yes, thanks, this is what I am looking for ... some constructive criticism!

Taking the mark of the beast to feed your family is selfless / noble!

But, doesn't God really condemn this, and does not suggest it is okay?

Doesn't God say a man who doesn't provide is worse then a dog?

That is why there will be more to this. It is not going to be ''get a chip'' and go to hell. God is not dumb or against technology.

Hello, however much I admire you zeal in the Lord, I think you maybe need to bring into perspective how the above verses apply and how to use them in the context of your subject. The law is not for the righteous but the unrighteous, we as Christian should already know all of these things lead to death, cause pain and ultimately destroy so as Christians we should fully agree with the teachings of Christ but not use them as a means to self-scrutinise and condemn ourselves. These verses are there to convince the unbelieving, we as Christians are free from the law and under grace, this is the antidote to sin, it's the formula to set us free to live for Jesus Christ.

If you look up 1st John 5 you'll find references to 'sins which are not unto death' and 'sins unto death' for Christians, when you fully understand what this means, it gives you a solid mindset to judge correctly....

I just cannot see these "warning lists" as being the law.
I see them as revealing that Christians have their part to play in their salvation process,
as they work out their salvation, etc.

Throughout ALL of Scripture, God's plan, method, etc. has been that
He and man work together in a co-operative effort to accomplish His desires!
Please note: our salvation is His desire, not man's who is @ enmity with God, etc.!

However, you did not offer an opinion on it.

At a cursory look, I would say that repented-of sins do not lead to death (1 John 5).

Please, everyone, give your opinion on this.

Opinion.......All of the passages posted confirm this verse.

Romans 3:23....
ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD".

The wicked and ungodly who reject the Lord Jesus Christ will be effected by all the verses you posted, but as for believers in Christ they mean nothing because God said............

Romans 5:6
"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly".

Romans 5:8 continues that thought by saying.......
"BUT GOD commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us".

What does all that mean????????

Romans 5:1
"Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"!!!

Because of Christ, the believer is NOT GUILTY and does not answer to the verses you posted for the wicked lost.

You are trying to come in through the back door with the same old argument you have hit us over the head with since your arrival here. You are still trying to say that saved people MUST keep the law of God to stay saved and that is not found in the Bible!!!!!

I have said this to you before but you have ignored it so I say it again. The doctrine for salvation can not be based on the Scriptures from the Revelation and applied to today. It just will not and can not work. The whole economy changes during the Tribulation and the verses in Revelation apply to those who are trying to live during that time.

The gospel changes in the Tribulation period!!!
