The Testing Of Spirits

Sound like these people who teach against the Holy Spirit? One day they are sure God is the same, and then they are unsure He is the same. One day they are sure every word of the bible is true and eternal truth, then the next day they are unsure that the Word of God really can be believed.. Its called double minded....

Never know what the Holy Spirit will do, sometimes He changes and is "different''

If folks don't have the Holy Spirit that fell in acts Chapter 2 and that which the apostles and believers had as recorded in the bible? You should really question whether you have entered into the things of God?

Jude 1:18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

I get a righteous anger when people go against the words of thee Bible.

Oh I agree Where - and I find it difficult to follow out of context, sculpted scripture. Not that I think you do that because if you have I have never seen it. I see your love of God. But I'm a foolish ole fart - what do I know.

I do not consider you to be a foolish ole fart, I consider you to be a wise ole fart. Allow me to inhale.

ROFLMAO. Every year, I look back and see my stupidity and I comfort myself that "well next year, I'll be wiser". God knows I'll be older.

Major this is a lie...swaggert teaches against the Holy Spirit..always has! Now you and I agree on many things, but you are in error on this issue and are trying to promote a "DIFFERENT" spirit. The bible describes the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is the same forever.

Whoa my brother. Ease down! I am sure that you are correct in what you are saying. I agree completely with you in fact!

However........"another" fallacy that they both share is that they were more eager to grab money than to spread the gospel of Christ. Baker even went to prison for fraud my brother.

And @Where? We share a sense of humor - if you don't believe me ask @HMS what the title of my last PM to him was. It might make you smile. I see myself, wrong or right, more in Euphemia and Mitspa. While we don't share the same pew, or arguably, the same church - I feel their passion, zeal, and love of God. We also share the sin of pride and that makes it hard for us to learn. Or take correction. And when you have been "touched" by God, it is hard not to feel special. As we move away in time from a supernatural event, it is easy to forget how unworthy you really are. If you all do nothing else, please please please watch the last 2 episodes of the strange fire conference. It might just change your heart - in a good, God's way.

While I agree some of us have passion and the zeal that comes from knowing God, we do not all commit the sin of pride. I have no problem with learning new things from God, and am rather eager on that score. As for correction, I welcome it, and the best place for it to come from God, through those who God has placed in my life.

Look for every honest man of God, there are two dishonest ones.. So these people have nothing to do with the Holy Spirit that I have received and the GIFTS that God has given to me just as His Word clearly describes. I don't have a form of faith that does not agree with the scriptures. And what these people and there actions have to do with this issue is a mystery to me?

Thank you Silk for your post. Beautiful wise words. What you said about pride is interesting, and I find true. It appears that some folks can be so prideful at times, that they don't even realize when someone is agreeing with them. Instead of being quick to listen they are quick to make a point, instead of trying to understand what the other is saying. God gave us two ears and one mouth, not two mouths and one ear. I also just realized you said watch 2 episodes and not the last 2 minutes of strange fire conference. Where are all the episodes?

Look I have seen some strange things in the charismatic circles...some of the things of God seem "strange" I have seen the nuts and flakes and the false prophets that are in many places. But the real is real and the bible describes the gifts of the Spirit and the Spirit does not change. The strangest thing I have ever seen is a powerless man, talking as if he is an expert on the Power of God. Of course for every truth, satan will produce a lie to confuse the truth...that's what he does! For every honest man of God, satan will find some fraud to promote to confuse the issues of truth that the honest man would reveal...That's what satan does! Men are evil in and of themselves apart from the Holy Spirit and THE POWER of the Holy Spirit, there is no hope for any man.

Look. Here is the deal. I see what you are saying. I get the whole nuts and flakes, add milk and you have breakfast, right? Of course. Yes, we know the Bible says, "I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready." Some people can handle meat, some folks consider meat a sin, and then we have some folks that eat frog legs. The point is the real is the real and the fake is the fake. God is God. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end. You are correct in saying the Spirit does not change, because thats biblical. Satan is satan, but if God is God, who then shall I fear? Right?

I think they're all at http://www.gty.org/strangefire
I've watched only a couple. Sorry if this was already covered earlier maybe I missed it, who would be some good teachers with videos or audio presenting for the modern gift/use of tongues, prophecy, healing?

(General question to all) May I ask your input on this experience (or maybe would be better in a new/different thread)? Shortly after God called me about 10 years ago, someone gave me a booklet from Kenneth Hagan. I forget the title but basically it was about how to receive the gift of tongues or a tongue. I was following what it said but nothing was happening, then it said something like some people have to start their lips moving a little bit. When I did that some kind of syllables or unrecognizable (to me anyway) sounds started coming out of my mouth and grew progressively louder and stronger and faster over the next couple of minutes. I was never really sure if that was the gift of a tongue? Or just myself making it happen? Does this experience sound like what people typically describe when receiving the gift of tongues or a tongue? I can let it happen but I always sort of feel like I am in control of it. I wasn't sure what to make of it. I did go to a church once or twice where people were making similar sounds to what I was making (though they all kind of had their hands over their mouths trying to not make it too loud I am guessing, I wasn't sure).

Andrew Wommack. Check out his website.

Sounds like tongues to me! We ARE in control of it, whether to use it or not, and for how long and when and where--which lends to the ability to do what God commands concerning this gift, which is to be wise and make sure we use these kinds of gifts in an orderly fashion.

John G Lake. If I remember correctly, I believe he had the power to heal, and he let scientist test him.

Funny, Where. In this case, I have a collection of good ones that do not promote heretical things. Why? Because I am careful what I allow my eyes and ears and mind to be exposed to.
