Wages Of Sin?

David is also with God, as he placed his hope in the coming Messiah, also. Where do you think he is?
Then why does Peter say that David is both DEAD an BURIED and his tomb is with us today? And why does he go on to say that David is not ascended into the heavens?

I think he is right there in that grave awaiting the second coming of Jesus, like everyone else that has died who have not been privileged with being translated as Moses, Enoch, and the many (not all) bodies of saints which slept in Jesus' day.

LOL!

Because guess what? David's body is dead and buried! David is not translated bodily into heaven.

Phoneman~

I see that you are still in need of understanding about what happens to us after death. Are you a Seventh Day Adventist or some other religion?

Now I know you need salvation really bad. Our citizenship is in heaven. God has raised us up and has made us sit in heavenly places in Christ. We are in Christ, where do you think Christ is? I can not imagine the hopelessness you feel right now in your religion. You must be thinking of another Jesus.

Bro, Paul said that we are to comfort one another with the words of the resurrection, and the Blessed Hope of the return of Jesus. You all choose to comfort one another with foolish talk about the dead being in heaven already. Did Paul say that if the dead rise not, then they that are asleep in Jesus are in great glory in heaven and walking on golden streets? No, he said that if the dead rise not, then they that have fallen asleep in Jesus are PERISHED.

David is not ascended to heaven. If the dead go straight to heaven when they die for what purpose then should there be a resurrection?
There you go using your carnal mind in an attempt yo understand spiritual things, it will never happen!!! The natural man can receives not the thing of the Spirit of God, neither can he know them, for they are foolishness to him, just like you are assuming.

Yes, David is with Jesus right now, as are all saints in Christ---in spirit bodies. The resurrection is for us to receive our glorified, imperishable bodies (like what Jesus has right now!) that we will need to rule and reign in the Millennium and the New Earth with our King.

1 John 3:2 (NLT)
Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.

What's foolish is to think that the dead in Christ are only bodies in the ground.

2 Corinthians 5:8 (NLT)
Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.

Your talking about the resurrection of the "dead" the word "dead" means corpse. We are not talking about the body but the spirit that has been raised with Christ when Jesus rose from the dead. That is if you really believe the Bible!

No, what's foolish is to suggest that death really means "a continuation of life" where people are in heaven praising God, when David Himself says that "the dead praise NOT the Lord, neither do any that go down into silence." They have ceased to be, and THIS is the hope of the resurrection, not some ridiculous idea that the resurrection is likened to some celestial fashion show where the "spirits" put on new clothes. You have no idea how in line these thoughts are with ancient pagan Greek errors that the "body" is a carnal shell that upon death, releases the "spirit" to fly off and yada yada." Are we to assume that the Greeks got it right while under Satanic control? Then, why did Paul have to go to them and sort things out?

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The spirit of man does not stay in the body! Your problems stems from your belief that man is not a spirit, soul, and body. Man is NOT body+spirit=soul. Like I said earlier, if you have error in one part of your belief system it effects everything else. The dead do not praise God because the body without the spirit is dead. There is no life in a dead body!!!
You do not have the slightest clue about being in Christ, you think it is some distant thing that is going to happen some day. That day has already come and gone, when Jesus rose from the dead, and brought His Church into the very presence of God.

Col 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
Col 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

No one ever ceases to be, except in the physical, biological sense. You need to open your spiritual eyes to the fact that we are spirit beings who have souls and happen to live in bodies that actually die and return to dust---until we are resurrected to receive entirely new, imperishable, glorified bodies and eternal life.

The dead bodies of believers cannot physically praise God anymore, but their living spirits will forever praise Him! There is nothing pagan in the plain teaching of the word of God on this matter. I do believe that you are suffering from both fear and false teaching, and you need to get right into the word and learn from God Himself, and get yourself some Spirit-led teachers, rather than false teachers and/or your own mind, because what you present here looks like some self-taught drivel, to me.

You need sorting out.

What has happened is you have gotten yourself involved with some people who have taught you somethings that is not from God. These people do not have the Spirit of, and you bought into them hook, line and sinker. You need to run away from these people as fast as you can, repent, and ask the real Jesus to come into your heart.

Very interesting points, brethren. I agree with the Bible that Jesus was loosed from death, but notice that it doesn't say that he was loosed from eternal torment.

That's because Jesus never experienced eternal torment. He didn't have to, because He was required to be the sacrifice of all sacrifices, shedding His precious and perfect BLOOD for our sins. When we receive that cleansing of His blood, we will escape the punishment of eternal death and damnation.

Your reasoning ability is very lacking. Do you actually think that is was necessary for Peter to tell the folks that David's "body" did not go to heaven, but remained in the tomb? Do you think that anyone had to tell the mourners that Lazarus' "body" hadn't gone to heaven, what with the smell? Do you think it was necessary for David to point out that dead "bodies" don't praise God? Or, is it more likely that Peter was attempting to clear up the confusion about death brought about by the Greek Hellenistic influences during the inter-testament period - that the dead really doesn't mean dead, but means "continuation of life"? Maybe we should start referring to David and Peter as the Captain Obvious and No-Duh Man.

Col 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
You keep misquoting Paul. He said, "...from the body AND present with the Lord" which does not demand that the one immediately follows the other, the way you so desperately want it to. Again, was it necessary for David to point out that a lifeless "body" can't praise anyone? Maybe he should have told us that it can't drive a chariot, too, in case anyone was confused about that, as well.
