Does God Love Satan?

Hey all,

I am not an expert in Scripture like some of you guys, so I figured I would ask the forum. We all know that God loves all of mankind, no matter how sinful or evil. Does this extend to Satan? If so, are we to love Satan (but obviously not be influenced by him)? Are there verses that specifically address this? Just kind of a weird question that I wasn't sure about.

Thanks for your input. :)

Satan hates us. I believe we should despise him and his works. How could we love him that only comes to kill, steal and destroy. How could we love all of his evil works? He is the father of all lies and if we are going to hate anything we should hate what God hates. And God hates injustice. We can't for one second have love towards the devil because everything about him is nothing but evil. God is love but He doesn't love evil.

Maybe God did not make Angels to know love? Or for the purpose of His love? It could be that the reason He made man to have a heart and a conscience and a will is so that the process of His Love could be known. I know there is the aspect of a choice in real love and not sure that Angels have the same sort of ability as we do, to know Gods love? So if He did not make them for the purpose of knowing His love? Then maybe its not a thing for angels whether good or bad, but a thing for man alone?

We don't love objects, or things. In fact you will never hear me even say I love Pizza or I love my car. I appreciate them and thankful.
I love God, People and that is it. I don't love animals, I don't love pizza, my computer.

Well now Mike, I love my dog. You can't tell me that I can't love my dog. I have "Feelings" for my dog.

Let me explain something to you. That love in you shed in your heart by the Holy Spirit is a spiritual force. Not only that, it is a person. Do you not Know God is Love? Now to say you "LOVE" your dog, means you would give your life for that Dog and treat that Dog as if it were someone created just like your Father in Heaven.

Jas_3:9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

Now the World will kill someone to saved their Dog. I was seeing the news the other day, that a brother killed his other brother because he ate the last piece of lunch meat in the house.

We ought not to use the Word Love loosely and out of disrespect. Love is not a feeling, but God almighty himself, shed abroad in our hearts. Love is a Nature, it's not a feeling.

The Master Said.........
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
(Mat 22:37-40)

Love your Neighbor as yourself. Your far more important than any dog on the Planet. You were bought and paid for with a price, precious blood as shed for you, and we ought not say we love something, putting ourselves and people on the same level as a dog.

A Dog can't share and have the same love that I have for God and People.

A brother killed his sibling brother, because He loved a piece of lunch meat more.
Let me tell you something, that is the Love of the devil, to love things, over human beings whom Jesus died for.

We ought to watch what we say we love.

Now Jesus said, the devil was a Murderer from the begging and when He lies, he speaks of his own for there is no truth in him at all. ZERO. (John 8:44)

To love the devil, would mean I would have to love Murder itself and approve of killing someone over a piece of lunch meat.

God created man to express His LOVE in him, although God knew man would sin;
God sent His son to die for man's sins, and the son was crucified;
God loved his son above all things, and honored the son with a name "...above every name...";
satan was the cataclyst for the son's crucifixion, and man's fall into sin;

Now, Genesis 1:1: do you believe God loves satan?

I thought God hates sinners, which the devil falls under that category. I wish churches would teach all the attributes of God.

God loves everyone He plans to throw in hell? That wouldn't make sense.

God can't love the devil any more than a tree. He was created to serve, but his very nature would make only a foolish person say they love him, because they would have to embrace that nature. The nature of death whom the devil had control of.

Well, God created Satan. Jesus saw Lucifer 'fall from heaven' because of his iniquity-his rebellion toward God.

God hates sin-'not the sinner' as we say. But there are consequences that are due for that sin, Satan's bill is a ticket to eternal hell-separated from God.

I am thinking Satan did the unpardonable-'blasphemy of the Holy Spirit'. And God MUST keep to His Word-else why would we trust in Him? 'As it is written' in heaven....

Can God create something that he 'hates' -or- does God allow us to make our choices? God CAN hate the choices that we make...

So does God, a loving, merciful God, HATE Satan? Doesn't make sense if He does.

Does God ALLOW Satan to influence mankind? Yes

Does God ALLOW Satan to actually harm mankind? It is possible, but this is not the norm.

Satan I believe was created for the purpose of mankind to be shone the difference between light & dark, good & evil. Created as a 'vessel of dishonor' for God's fulfillment of His purpose. Do I understand it? NOPE! But if that be God's will...so be it.

The Scripture says that God by nature is love (1 John 1:5-10; 1 John 4:8; 16). However, God’s love is an expression of His absolute goodness, which is dependent on at least two other attributes which are His all encompassing omniscient grasp of what is truth, having foreknowledge of all things, as well as His sense very clear sense of justice.

All His attributes are made alive to us through the Word, by the Spirit, and are revealed in His word to us. It is the Word, God’s Righteousness, Who is the foundation or gate to the Kingdom. In Him we obtain the integrity regarding our need of mercy and grace which are obtained the redemption. The ultimate mercy is found in His healing the breach between God and man established in the first Adam and reconciling us. He did this to save us from the bonfage of Satan, and the wrath to come. But sadly not all will accept this gracious provision. In fact, some insistently resist and reject His offer of this free gift. They insist on being the lord. In the world, there are only children of God, those lost sheep who are meant to be, and children of Belial (the father of lies, the Serpent).

Now the ancient Hebrew word for “hate” (saw-nay), carries the sense of something we abhor, or detest, to feel something as abominable to us, to sense enmity, to have no taste for, or to feel malice toward, etc.! So though God is love, by nature of His being ultimate goodness, this causes Him to abhor or detest all that separates us from Him. This is why the Lamb was provided (John 3:16), to bruise the head of the Serpent (Genesis 3:15), forever wounding him in the place of power and authority that he legally held over the earth and its inhabitants.

Since God is all-good, so to speak, He naturally “hates”, i.e., abhors, detests, considers abominable, all that is at enmity against Him. He cannot tolerate its presence. It logically follows that out of love for His creation He likewise hates all that causes any opposition to the fulfillment of His plan (this separation, division, delusion, falsehood, etc.)! Thus all are not forgiven (Mark 3:39; 4:11-12).

Only those who receive His graceful provision through faith are saved (Matthew 7:13-14), and though the invitation goes out to all, only few will accept. The children of Belial will never accept, because it means giving up their own self-lordship. The privilege to decide this is the only way is entirely a matter of His sovereign will (Deuteronomy 32:39-41: Titus 3:3-8). He willed that we should all turn to Him with a circumcised heart and with words return in repentance, but alas we would not. So He Himself did it with His Arm laid bare (Isaiah 52:13-53; 59:15-17), but who would believe our report?

So "hate" can be applied in many ways but God knows that Satan and his angelic minions will NEVER repent even if they were given the opportunity.

My worthless $.02

Satan was created to serve God. Not to foul things up. Mankind was not designed to eat that tee of good and evil (Knowledge of calamity) No, to know light from dark was a rebellious act on Adams Part.

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
(Eze 28:14-15)

God said he FOUND iniquity, right there in the Garden with Adam. God cursed him saying you shall bruise his heel, but he shall bruise your head. Jesus having defeated all the powers of hell and took away the power of death from Satan whom He subject people in fear.

God does not just "allow" Satan to influence mankind. NO, Man allows Satan to influence mankind. As it is written I have given the Earth to man, and have put all things in subjection to man, giving him dominion over all my creation.

God never allows Satan to just harm mankind for He doth not afflict by his will but judgement always gave a place to the enemy, Paul saying, "I have turned such a one over to Satan for the destruction of his body, that his spirit may be saved."
Satan has to have a place, and it's not given by God, as we are told not to give place to the devil.

Its not real clear Alli... there was darkness and God made Light out of the darkness. Is darkness not evil? That which rejects the Light loves the darkness. This is the simple understanding that I have but how satan come to love darkness is not clear?

I should also add the rejection of the need for a Savior,

The rejection that there is a divide between what is right(eous) and wrong. (morality)

And more importantly the denial of what is sin. (law)

We were purposely created to be dependents of our God.

So I'm confused...was evil created? It couldn't have been right?

There is nothing above, below or here on Earth God did not create, for He said I create evil and I create good.

Now, God did not say one time I made anything to be evil. He just said he created it. So it's really clear.

Jesus came because?

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
(Heb 2:14-15)

Forget this nonsense about God wanted man to see light and dark Allie. Just religious trash. God warned Adam not to eat of that tree so Adam would not see the darkness.
Adam already knew good.

Jesus came as a man so that he may die without sin to have a right to rip control of death from the hands of the devil. Jesus came to stop that rat. Satan can't say a thing about it. Satan gained entrance and control over all God gave to Adam through deception. Jesus came as a man and the devil could not get him to sin. It reversed what Adam did in a legal way, fair and square. Paul said how much more through one mans obedience shall we reign in life!!!! How much more!!!! What Jesus did was far greater than what Adam messed up.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
(1Jn 3:8)

That is why Jesus came, because God's most powerful Angelic being whom God said he even Anointed (That is power) turned on him. God FOUND the iniquity in Satan. God did not plan it, but found it. Satan is still an angel though, something he would like to escape seeing man. For the Angels say, "Who is this man, and why is God so mindful of them."

Thank you Jesus!!

God hates nobody but sin.

Look at how Jesus (God) spoke to Him in the desert. 1. He gave the devil an opportunity to talk 2. He never insulted, cursed, smacked him. This tells me a lot about our good God.

As Mike pointed out love = doing / obeying. But...is love not also to ''feed'' our enemies? Is God not doing that with the devil? Is the devil currently suffering / annihilated?

God will not ''annihilate'' any of His enemies. God has made an eternal home for them. Why?

Will they suffer for eternity? God keeps them alive for eternity to see them suffer for eternity? Doesn't sound like my God.

Christians are split on eternal suffering but not eternal banishment. A handful believe in annihilation. I guess cause they also don't witness with God wanting to watch the evil suffer for eternity.

I say God does love the devil as much as He can and is not done with him yet. Not saying he will ever be with Him in heaven again. But who knows if perhaps the relationship will improve with time? Eternity is a long time and we ARE on a need to know basis.

Scripture is ''gospel'' on what it does tell us about God's plan. So eternal punishment mentioned = eternal banishment without a doubt = eternal toleration of the evil by God = surely God still exercising love for them.

I am reminded of Psalm 136:1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Evil wasn't created. Intelligent beings with free will were.

I just want to add that in my honest opinion there is NOTHING more insulting to suggest that God is even the slightest bit involved in creating / doing something evil. God HATES sin. That is why His sweat turned to blood! Have you ever heard of someone about to be crucified having their sweat turn to blood? Only God comes to mind. Because He HATES sin.
