Let's Study Positiveness

Let's study Positiveness and what God says about it. Post verses that talk about Positiveness. They don't have to have the word positive in it. Just something that talks about Positiveness.

Didn't this topic cause so much heat before? :D Just asking!!

There are many place where Jesus tells us "Do not fear".. That does not directly refer to positive thinking.. And Bible also says man's wisdom is foolishness in sight of God! So we cannot disconnect from God and focus on positive thinking..

While I respect your opinion, I am not saying I am disconnecting from God. I just want to be a positive person.

My humble opinion on being a positive person is this, our priority should not be focused on staying positive. I'm not saying I'm against being positive, but I am saying we should not focus on it. Especially when I read verses like this: Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

I see no harm in focus on the positive, if I understand the OP. Positive scripture? John 3:16. Focusing on God's love, not fear of the evil that abounds here. That we have a way back to God in Heaven. That the eternal battle, if you have Christ in your heart, is won. Positives keep us on the right path, don't they?

PS: For God so loves the world is more positive - never use love in the past tense.:)

I dont think there is any real power in positive thinking. Thats something that came from worldly wisdom in my opinion.

However we are told to rejoice in the Lord and I do believe there is power in that.

I think the OP was about positive and what God says about it. That seems to me to take it out of the realm of false hopes and pretending evil doesn't exist. It means clinging to the good God shows us.

Maybe you have the advantage of knowing the OP poster on a personal level more than I do. As a latecomer to these forums I took it at face value.

I don't know the OP poster, as it happens. But I didn't mean my post as a criticism of what you said. There is a wordly doctrine of "postitive thinking" which I think ? I would concur with you on as there are many fallacies there.

Here is a bit of physiology...the "mirror neurons" are a part of the brain (so wonderfully designed) that just takes in a stores information received through the ears and eyes, it also causes us to associate with all that is observed (as if we are doing it or are there experiencing it)...it makes no moral judgment on the data it just accepts it (so we should be careful as to what we allow our eyes and ears to receive...what does this say of TV)...but because it is connected with the rest of the brain it feeds this information to it....therefore as for casting down imaginations and thinking on good things (as both Paul and Peter teach...or like Jesus speaks about worrying) one should not underestimate its effect.

If we desire to have the mind of Christ, thinking God's thoughts and deciding (choices and actions) based on these, it has it's effect for God's word does not return to Him void...so I a not advocating "Positive Thinking" like a Norman Vincent Peale or Mary Baker Eddy but believing and not doubting is a good practice...IMO

brother Paul

Hi, these verses are positive to me-: "Blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord" (Jerimiah 17:7).
God gives you grace for today.Give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:11).
I wait for the Lord, i expectantly wait, and in His Word do i hope (Psalm 130:5).
The key to your future is hope. The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him (Lamentations 3:25).
"This is the day which the Lord has brought about; we will rejoice and be glad in it".(Psalm 118:24).
"The joy of the Lord is our strength".(Nehemiah 8:10).

I am born of God, and the evil one does not touch me (I John 5:18).

I am holy and without blame before Him in love (I Peter 1:16; Ephesians 1:4).

Hallelujah!

I love the subject of positivity-
"I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me". (Philippians 4:13).

"We are assured and know that...all things work together and are good to and for those who love God and are called according to His design and purpose" (Romans 8:28).
Faith always expects something good to happen (Psalm 27:13,14).

Jesus said, "Ask and recei ve that your joy might be full".(John 16:24).

"Rejoice in the Lord always, again i say, Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4).
Pray about everything and worry about nothing (Phil 4:6).

Hey Sal (waving :)). I didn't expect it - but strangely, yours and Brother Paul's scriptures have me a wee bit uplifted. I tend to worry and that last of yours is a good reminder for me.

That's great so pleased to hear positive news. Thanks to brother paul and Jesus freak for providing the opportunity to highlight positive, uplifting verses .It means a lot to me because i very much need a reason to stay positive myself and it helps me so much.

I've just been reading past posts and find that maybe positive could maybe mean a different context to what i mean by it. One thing i am sure of though is that it is far better to be 'positive- which i equate with faith and belief in God- than being negative. To me negative (forebodings) is dangerous. The power of words is powerful and i have experienced negativity from people trying to change my mind on things and take away my hope . I much rather live according to God's Word and to me that is positive. God is good and i see Him as being positive, an encourager and all that is good. I hope i've explained okay.

God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above and beyond all that we could ever dare to hope, ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20).

The Lord is on my side; i will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6).

Have i not commanded you? Be strong, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9).

For by you i can run through a troop, and by my God i can leap over a wall (Psalm18:29).

Trust in the Lord and do good, so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed (Psalm 37:3).

The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts His confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high (Proverbs 29:25).

The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall i fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life-of whom shall i be afraid? (Psalm 27:1).
