Faith, A Must...

Hello!

My name is Elder Cullen and I am a full time minister, missionary and representative of Jesus Christ.

I am new to this forum and would like to get to know some more people online.

I believe that faith is one of the most critical elements to life, and without it we would not be where we are today. I also believe that works is a key part of faith. In James 2:17 it reads: Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

My good friend writes a blog about faith, I have found it very useful and inspiring. Worth a look :)

Welcome, Elder Cullen.
I must say, it's very brave of you to introduce yourself with a topic that can at times bring a bit of a divide. Nonetheless, it's a very important subject, so I commend you for that. ;)

Indeed, faith is one of the most critical, if not THE most critical, in regards to receiving saving grace. It's the very first thing one must do in repenting. In fact, it's what often leads one to repenting.

I also agree that faith without works is dead as this is taught in the Scriptures. Of course this shouldn't be misunderstood as working one's way into heaven or having works and no faith (which is illogical even). While there are quite a lot of verses that express the works element complimenting faith, James 2 is one of the boldest sections to express this. James 2:24 is especially blatant when it says "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone."

We've had extremely long discussions about the subject of justification in this forum. It is always one that keeps us on our toes I think. But it is one of the most fascinating subjects to discuss.

Welcome to the forums. I AM having a great day today soooo far. And I DO have faith in GOD. I am ready to conquer the day today. I hope you are too.

Welcome Elder Culen.. Good to have you here.. If I don't mind, may I ask you this? Are you from Mormon faith? Not to start any debate.. Because that is the not the purpose of the thread.. Just to know..

Hi guys! Yep, I am a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormons as it is commonly known :)

Well, you are certainly welcome here. You may find some doctrinal disagreements, especially since you are the only Mormon here (that I know of), but welcome nonetheless :)
