Mark 9:33-37

Mark 9.33-37. Explain how Jesus's definition of greatness differs from that of our world. Why is it so difficult to put others first and ourselves last? How does being "last" make Jesus "first" in our lives?

Mark 9.33-37. 1. Explain how Jesus's definition of greatness differs from that of our world. 2. Why is it so difficult to put others first and ourselves last? 3. How does being "last" make Jesus "first" in our lives?
1. The greatest in heaven is in Matt 18:4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Being humble / lowly on earth does not get us to be the greatest on earth unless God has something to do with it :).

2. We have pride.

3. Along the same lines as Matt 10:39. We just need to grasp Matt 6:24 No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. When we drop our pride and submit to Jesus as our master, we make ourselves last. There is one throne in our lives. Either we obey our flesh or we submit to Jesus and walk in the spirit Gal 5:16-26.
