Losing My Religion....

Like Saul/Paul, we are to “lose our religion” ….the traditions (transmissions) of our church fathers….when He calls us out from among them. By His grace, we are delivered from those who are living in error so that He reveal His Son in us.

Galatians 1:13-16 KJV
(13) For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
(14) And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
(15) But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
(16) To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Paul counted those things he left behind as a “loss”. He lost his “life” to save it. He counted all of those things but a loss for the excellency of the KNOWLEDGE of Christ Jesus His Lord. Christ Jesus comes to give us the KNOWLEDGE of God (the Light) and we are to confess Him as LORD over our own thoughts and ways….over the thoughts and ways of other men who have led us astray from the path of righteousness and into their denominations of envy and strife.

Philippians 3:4-8 KJV
(4) Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
(5) Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
(6) Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
(7) But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
(8) Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Whoever shall “lose his life” for His sake shall find it…..

Matthew 16:24-25 KJV
(24) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
(25) For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

The disciples “lost their lives” and FOLLOWED Him. Some of us are “fishers” casting our erroneous teachings like a net into the “sea” of men’s thoughts.

Matthew 4:18-22 KJV
(18) And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
(19) And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

They IMMEDIATELY LEFT their nets to follow Him. We are to forsake our “nets”….our own thoughts and ways and teachings….to follow Him.

(20) And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

Some preach for “gifts” in the name of the Lord….the meaning of “Zebedee”….and many are in that same “boat”. But He calls us out from among those who do such things.

(21) And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

His disciples IMMEDIATELY left the “ship” and their “father” and followed Him. They lost their “life” for His sake.

(22) And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

We are to RENOUNCE the hidden things of dishonesty….not handling the Word of God deceitfully for unjust gain. We are to leave the “nets”….the crafty teachings of men who capture people in an evil net.

2 Corinthians 4:1-2 KJV
(1) Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
(2) But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

We are to cease preaching ourselves and preach only Christ Jesus the Lord whom we are servants to.

2 Corinthians 4:5-6 KJV
(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
(6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

We are to stop sitting at the “receipt of custom” and follow Him.

Matthew 9:9 KJV
(9) And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

The “princes” exercise their authority upon their congregations as they serve themselves and not Christ Jesus the Lord. But it is not so for a follower of Jesus.

Matthew 20:25-27 KJV
(25) But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
(26) But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
(27) And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

Do we want a man to be king over us who will take that ten percent and put you to work in their “kingdoms” or do we want to follow the King of kings and Lord of lords whose burden is light and yoke is easy?

1 Samuel 8:10-20 KJV
(10) And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
(11) And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
(12) And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
(13) And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
(14) And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
(15)
And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
(16) And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

(17) He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
(18) And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
(19) Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

(20) That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

We are to come to Him all those who are laboring under their "king" and are heavy laden by men's commandments and doctrines and He will give us REST. We are to LEARN OF HIM and find REST....

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
(28) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

(29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
(30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

We are not to be religious and follow after man's rules and traditions but follow after Jesus as His servants.
I so want to agree completely with this that I can almost taste it.

Unfortunately, I've heard SOOO many people us this as an excuse to read the Bible so incredibly badly (and try to force their theology on others) that I just can't. Hopefully, I can agree with the spirit of your statement at least.

Hello my brother Banarenth!!! It is so very good to hear from you. I have missed you and your imput!

There is no short cut for Bible knowledge is there?

Someone once said that God made the birds and God made the worms, but the worms never crawl into the birds mouth.
