Day Of God's Vegeance 2

In the previous article "Day of God's Vengeance" (click/copy this link to read: http://www.christianforumsite.com/threads/the-day-of-gods-vengeance-has-come.32915/), we saw that God's vengeance is imminent upon both the Church and the world.

Now why is God bringing judgement upon His church?

1. To comfort those that mourn in Zion: so that He may be glorified through them.

KJV: To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; (3) To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

There are those that are mourning () in Zion right now: they are carrying a lot of the burden in prayer and fasting for God's purpose of the perfection of the Church: since the majority have refused to do so. They are persecuted, rejected and ostracized by the majority of the Church because they emphasize the weightier matters of the law: judgment, mercy (love) and faith in their preaching and teaching.

However, when God's vengeance comes, they will be vindicated, comforted and rewarded with the spirit without measure, by which God will be glorified through them!

2. Judgment must begin at the house of God: God must judge the Church first before He judges the world.

1Peter 4:17 KJV: For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

3. To make the simple (or the foolish) in the Church wise:

KJV: Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. (5) Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. (6) Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

KJV: When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

KJV: Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

In the next article, we will see how this vengeance in the Church will take place.

Welcome to the forum my friend.

Allow me to address your comments.
Now why is God bringing judgement upon His church?
1. To comfort those that mourn in Zion: so that He may be glorified through them

God is NOT going to judge the church! The church is made up of Christians and all of their sins were placed on the cross of Jesus and were paid for by Him.

ZION = Jerusalem. The Jews will be judged along with all nonbelievers.

2. Judgment must begin at the house of God: God must judge the Church first before He judges the world.

The “house of God” is the Christian community (2:4-5). Verse 18 indicates that eschatological judgment is in view. This verse indicates that eschatological judgement is, in some sense, already happening to Christians when they suffer at the hand of unbelievers. As the surrounding context makes clear, Christians are not judged through suffering in the sense that they are punished for sins. The Christian readers are suffering for obeying the gospel and this brings glory to God

3. To make the simple (or the foolish) in the Church wise:

What verse in the Bible is this???
