Serving The Lord

Hello everyone, this is a bible study that I typed up for the bible study we are having tonight. I am posting it here as well in hopes that it touches someone here or that they use it. May God bless you all!!!
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
(Revelation 1:8 ESV)
READ in entirety 1 Peter 1:22 – 2:9
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ephesians 1:4-5 Chosen
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.

God knows everything that is to happen, the verse we read before we prayed says he is the beginning and the end. He existed before and will exist after.

1John 3:20 says for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.
His plan is perfect, there is no fault with it, because we are dealing with a perfect God, the God of gods, and the King of kings. We are chosen for the will of God. To do what HIS will bids, not our own. Because God knows all and wants what is best and will do what is best.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matthew 22:37 Love God
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

Heart, soul and mind. We are to love God with our entire being! God loved you and I he gave up his life for us. I am mainly speaking of myself here, but then you have people who do Love God, but are willing to walk away for 6 years, or people who constantly and blatantly go against what he commands that know better.
If proverbs is a book that covers many verses on how we are to obey our physical father growing up, being born again and I think it is much more imperative to listen to your new Father God.

A lot of us say we love God, but many of our actions say otherwise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1Peter 2:2 Seek

So again speaking of being born again in Christ, here we see this very analogy here of being infants. It is not only directing us to seek the Lord and grow spiritually, it is saying to long for it. To have a persistent desire and craving for it as a baby would for milk.

Be passionate to pray! Pray consistently, praise him at all times, worship God as that is what he deserves. Read your bible. All these are ways to seek him. Through prayer you get that one on one time that everyone needs in a relationship. Just like we have to give time to our kids and spouse, we have to make sure to give time to God which we are to Love MORE than our spouse and kids.

Romans 12:11 Serve
Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Being slothful is defined as a disinclination to action or labor, a synonym for sloth is indolent, which in turn means to be slow to develop.
Zeal means enthusiasm, or to have passion. This verse is basically saying to not be lazy in your passion, but to instead with a burning intensity be in spirit, and SERVE the Lord.

We serve the Lord by doing his will as we started to discuss at the very beginning. And I believe to serve him it starts with loving and seeking the Lord once you have accepted him into your heart. So we have two instances where with passion we are to seek and serve God. The next three subjects are what I believe God commands of us…
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Peter 2:1 Put away sin

Chapter 1 verse 22 starts with the words “Having purified your souls to OBEDIANCE of truth” Purified and saved first for acknowledging 3 facts. Fact 1, accepting that Christ is God manifest in flesh. 2. That he had the most horrific death, the ultimate sacrifice for you and me so we could have eternal life and third that we are sinners and are lost without Christ. We then continue this act by trying our best to emulate Christ. Be Christ like. We are always going to sin but remember that we have been set free from sin through Grace, it’s not an excuse to keep living the way we did when we walked in flesh.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Peter 1:22 Love on another

It’s known as the golden rule and a subject that has been talked upon before. We need to be kind to one another, love one another, one to non-believers so that they can see the grace of Christ in you, but second because of the brother to your left and right, we are to build each other up spiritually not tear each other down. Christ wants us to be loving to one another. If you want to know how to treat each other 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 hits it very well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Peter 2:9 Proclaim Gospel

As time continues to move on we are being told that though you don’t believe something, that you should respect their beliefs, I do believe that to an extent. I’m not going to thrash someone or stone a gay person because I think it’s wrong. We are to love them. However, the modern age of

EVERYONE IS RIGHT IN THEIR OWN EYES is plain out dumb. Either you are wrong or right. Don’t be afraid to tell others of Christ as 1 Peter 2:9 says right here. Whether afraid of their thoughts on you or of respecting their views, whatever the case it is what we are called to do.

Mathew 28:19 says~Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

2 Timothy 4:2 says~preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember to always keep in prayer, Seek him constantly, read his word, and let him into your heart to work in you so you can be a servent of Christ doing the will of God to others.

I wish I had researched what this "movement" is called when I had typed that up. New Age Eastern Mysticism I think it's called. I'mma research it.

That is about making yourself stronger inside. Tapping into secret, hidden, or other wise difficult to prove flows of power and bringing yourself in line with the cosmos/innerself, whatever....

When it is teaching make ourselves strong, the Bible teaches make ourselves weak, we are inherently opposed.

You are correct dario....

New Age actually goes back to Gen. 10 and ancient Babylon. Its roots can be traced to Nimrods wife......Semiramus who declared herself to be :Mother Earth".

New Age teachings became popular during the 1970's as a reaction against what some perceived as the failure of Christianity and the failure of Secular Humanism to provide spiritual and ethical guidance for the future. Its roots are traceable to many sources: Astrology, Channeling, Hinduism, Gnostic traditions, Neo-paganism, Spiritualism, Theosophy, Wicca, etc.

It is a Christless and bloodless religion stepped in atheism and self. The goal is to achieve "godhood".

Thanks for the info Major!

Instead of "tapping into" some kind of mistic inner self to bring ones self into line with the cosmos, I suggest .......................

"You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world." (1 John 4:4).

Knowing that God lives in you, and that he loves you, should banish all fear from your life. Fear of failure should have no place. Fear of what other people think, should not bother you. Fear of problems that may come up, should be of no concern. You have God living in you.

I would suggest blessed are the poor in spirit. Not those that try to build their spirit strong.

Of course I'm trusting Jesus on this one.
