Make The Gospel Clear

When we share the gospel with people, why don't we make the gospel clear. To often we tell people that we have to turn from sin, surrender ourselves, make Jesus, lord, make Jesus, King in order for
God to accept us into His family. This is not the gospel that Jesus preached. He said, "Truly, truly I say unto you, he that believes in me has eternal life." If we believe (rely upon or trust in) in Jesus
Christ, He gives us eternal life. It is that simple. Why do we complicate such an incredibly simple and grace filled message? Think about it.

Because we are humans and have to do everything the hard way. I know it's not funny but that is what I see around me.
And yes it is a very simple grace filled message. Took me a long time to understand how easy it was LOL :) but I made it.

Great! Spread the word.

I'm sorry, no disrespect meant to you Vaccinius, but I have to shout ABSOLUTELY NOT! Jesus was very clear. Specifically, He says in John 3:16 "...WHOEVER BELIEVES on Him (the only begotten Son of God, Jesus) shall be saved." The Lord knows who believes and who does not - only HE can be the judge of a man's heart.

Yes, one can generally tell who's a follower of Christ or a "Christian" by their "fruit," (John 15:1-8) but that's AFTER salvation is attained and your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” A literal rendering of “shall” is actually “will” so this scripture, according to the Greek, ought to read “…that whoever believes in him will not perish but has [the present indicative means they already possess] eternal life.”
Acts 16:30-31: ““Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
Acts 4:13: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
John 3:18: “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

It is we who want to make it out to be some special quest to attain - you need to do "this" or do "that" to go to heaven. This is simply not true. It was all Him. He sent His Son for ALL people - that none would perish. Salvation is a gift from God. Simple. If this gift was conditional in our behavior in any way, it wouldn't be a gift, it would be a barter. FAR BE IT! May He alone be praised for His wonderful work of salvation given freely to all who believe.

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Now, the behavior that is expected of one by God AFTER one has accepted His Great Love (Jesus) and is saved from eternal damnation - that, my friend, is a different topic all together - not to be taken out of context - nor is it meant to take anything away from His free GIFT of Salvation.

Personally, I wouldn't want it any other way. Thank you, Lord, for the wonderful gift of salvation which is free to all who believe in You!

covered_by_grace,

Salvation is a free gift to all who believe. His grace freely gave His Only Begotten Son for death on the cross.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Please don't take this precious gift and try to re-wrap it to be something it was never meant to be. NONE of us can deserve heaven, no matter how hard we try to, as you say, "turn from sin, surrender ourselves, make Jesus Lord, or make Jesus King." He accepts us because it pleased Him to do so through our belief and faith in His Son.

covered_by_grace,

A sinner shall not be saved.

Then why did He have to die on the Cross? So we would be a "better" people? So we wouldn't be a sinner anymore?

Luke 5:32 (NLT)
"I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent."
Simply: belief in JESUS (which leads to repentance) = eternal life.

I am NOT saying you can just say "I believe" and not really believe He is who He says He is - GOD - and go on about your business-as-usual, then expect to go to heaven. The question was posed by jrvega: "If we believe (rely upon or trust in) in Jesus Christ, He gives us eternal life. It is that simple. Why do we complicate such an incredibly simple and grace filled message?"

The answer is: It's really not complicated. We make it that way, obviously.
