Yes Sr. is correct :).

traditional forms of evangelism do not be neglected, is correct.

However, the door God has opened right through internet is very big. but I have Christian friends who tell me Jesus personally preach the preaching to be effective must be personal. mail it, or a web page does not work, in my opinion, if we ask God's guidance and blessing, an email can be an instrument for a person who is on the other side of the world accepts Jesus as Savior. Biblical basis can be found in 2 Chronicles 34, the entire capito 34, found in verse 14 "Hilkiah told the reporter Safan: <I found the book of the law in the temple of the Lord.> then I give and safari took him to the king. That event was the trigger for a major spiritual reform, we see that a book that talked about the things of God, made a powerful effect on the king and the king to all the people. then God may use an email, a book in digital format, or an online course or a page in a book that presents a video on mp3 which presents simple ways how to receive God's blessings.

Traditional forms are important, but I think the ministry in all its forms should give emphasis on this in the work of God.

Taking this from a slightly different perspective, I think the net is a wonderful tool for God's message to be spread. I have read some what I believe to be Holy Spirit inspired teaching, preaching, etc.

On the down side I have also read what I believe to be flesh inspired teaching, preaching, etc.

On the net whether it be forums or websites, you can call yourself anything you choose, phrophet, teacher etc, etc, and possibly believe it yourself, because you are not answerable to anyone, be it members of your church, Christian friends or other net users.

As in the 'real world' I think this is unavoidable, but I do wonder how many of these people had these' gifts' before the invention of the internet.

I suppose the only way to judge content on the INTERNET is to perform the acid test as performed by St.Paul, St.Augustine of Hippo, Jan Huss,John Wyclif,William Tyndale, John Calvin, John Wesley, John Knox and Spurgeon,Moody, etc: How does it compare to Scripture?
I Peter 1:23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God , which liveth and abideth forever."
Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
Hosea 6:6 "For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings."
I cringe when I read comments on Christian forums that include a desire for "opinion" or "my experience" or to protest the "spouting of Scripture".
Perhaps a rule of thumb is "If it doesn't match the Word of God,it isn't approved by the God of the Word."

Yours Faithfully,
Julian of York

The internet is a tool that has many capabilities for good, but also has many capabilities for evil, too. Anthing that has the ability to be used for God has the possibility to be used by Satan as well. That is why we are told to study the Word, so that we will know truth from lies and opinion, and live accordingly. There are so many people who know just enough scripture and can state an argument well, but still be talking out-of-their-hats. Many non-Christians believe they can read scripture and understand its meaning, as they might read any novel; we are specifically told, though, that there are secrets in the Word revealed only to those who are followers of Christ. As we use the internet as a tool for evangelism, we must understand that Satan is attempting to destroy anything of God, so we have to be careful to discern truth as we use the information posted here.

I am restricted by severe Chemical Disability from attending church or most face-to-face fellowship opportunities. The 'net gives me an opportunity not only to fellowship (of a sorts) but to "minister" also. But I too have been appalled at the sheer volume of false and erroneous teaching on the 'net, but even more saddened by how much of it sits unchallenged on supposedly Christian forums. If we are to be a witiness on the 'net it MUST be as a witness of the truth, not of that which is not true.

I find fellowship the most difficult because it is easy to pretend Christianity over it. It is only after many interactions and observations that you can get a more accurate "picture" of the true nature of who you are dealing with. But as for my ministry I deal a lot with Atheists through my YouTube channel, speaking to them in the language they CLAIM to understand (but surprisingly few do), logic and rational argument. I often do not hold out much hope for those I am speaking to but perhaps those looking on may have some of the illusion brushed from their eyes by reality.

My other ministry seems to be to help show the reality of what the bible is actually teaching us compared to the plethora of misinformation that floods even Christian forum sites. The word of the Lord bears witness to how well (or not) I do this, as it should be.

Interacting on the Internet can be much harder to control and much easier to misunderstand when engaging in conversations.

I have heard many people say that read or heard a Scripture somewhere that planted the seed and caused them to seek God.....but I'm certain open forum are far too volital to be used for evangelical purposes. Not that we can't witness here, but there is so much distraction, it can actually be a deterant.

You might think someone is finally starting to listen to what you are saying and them someone else chimes in and distracts or offends the person. Or they say something unbiblical and you end up in a debate.

However, we need to have a voice on the internet to counter all the deception floating around in cyberspace.

Like others have already shared, the internet is just a tool. As with anything else, it can be used for both good and evil. (In fact, the same can be said about the Bible as well.)

When you use the internet, you are generally either (1) reading something, (2) watching something, (3) hearing something, or (4) doing a combination of the three. In other words, using the internet is generally on par with reading a book, watching a television program, or listening to music; the main difference has to do with the speed by which one can interchange between such activities, and combine them. Certainly, there is a place for personal preaching, teaching, and fellowship. As the saying goes, if love doesn’t work up close, it almost certainly will not work from a distance. But that truth should not be used to rule out impersonal teaching from afar, either.

When we read something as opposed to, say, watching/listening to a sermon at a church, we are favouring ration and reason to discern the content of what is being preached more so than our emotions. We have time to think about, meditate over, and re-read what is being said – we don’t have this opportunity when we are being ‘preached at’ in person. This represents one benefit of acquiring our Christian teaching via a written medium, as opposed to a more audio-visual approach. (The Bible would arguably be the best written medium for Christian teaching available to us today.)

Jesus said that those who worship the Father must do so ‘in spirit and in truth’. (John 4:24) In his letter to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul identified five distinct ‘positions’ (or ministries) within the church: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. (Ephesians 4:11-12) Two of these positions deal more with the ‘spirit’ side of the coin (evangelists and pastors), in that their approach is generally softer, and more concerned with the individual they are ministering to than the content of what they are saying.

On the other hand, another pair of the positions mentioned (prophets and teachers) deal more with the ‘truth’ side of the equation, with prophets in particular being generally known for their ‘hard’ and ‘rough’ image; and Jesus even went so far as to identify persecution as the tell-tale sign of a true prophet. (Luke 6:22-23, 26) Generally speaking, you don’t get persecuted for being soft and cuddly, and/or for telling people what they want to hear!

I would argue that an up close and personal approach is best suited for the first two forms of ministry (pastoring and evangelizing), while a more removed medium, e.g. the internet, may be better for the latter two forms (prophesying and teaching). In fact, this point may be valid if for no other reason than the fact that it reduces the persecution risk for prophets and teachers, who are much more likely to receive persecution for their work (if genuine) than are evangelists and pastors. :)

Anyway, that’s probably enough from me for now on that issue. Just a little bit of food for thought.

You are speaking to a deaf and dumb world my friend. You are correct in your assessment of what is needed. I have been teaching on the Internet for the past fifteen years and have led hundreds to the foot of the cross on all seven continents and in spite of my having had several web sites, each of the converts were led by personal conversations with me on the IM or some in a forum such as this one.

Because of the twenty-four time zones of the world it is a requirement that one be flexible on their sleep periods. I spent 9 hours on the Yahoo IM one night leading one man in England to his Profession of Faith, just weeks before his death. I was answering his questions from 9 pm until just after 6 am the next day. But if one is devoted, truly devoted to the Christ, this is a very fruitful ministry.

While I agree that church is the first choice in proclaiming the Word, a person hearing the Word verses seeing it written will have a tendency of that person in just taking the word of that man proclaiming it. If you stop and really listen to the teachings in our churches today, you will find they are geared more towards half a God. The churches seem to be giving the members more of what they believe will make us feel better about ourselves. What is the harm in that? The harm comes in what we are seeing in the new age churches springing up all around us. The main theme coming from these churches are more about you just doing the best you can, and being the best you can be, and it will all be okay in the end. The problem with with the church community today is that they are more bound by what a group of men in the church, called deacons or the association of men that get together to decide what needs to be proclaimed and what does not.
The internet gives ministries the freedom to not be governed by a group of men. The internet gives ministers the ability to possibly reach immunerial amounts of both Christians, and the lost of this world. The reason I believe God inspired me to go with the internet by means of my ministry is due to what is being taught, or more importantly what is not being taught in our churches.
One must remember that all doctrines the Bible teaches are there by the inspiration of God. It is not up to men to decide what doctrines needs to be taught and what do not. Teaching half a God will only give your spirit half of the nutrition it needs to grow. Nothing of this world comes about without it being the Will of God, and we all know that God will use evil to do Good. The internet is by far the best means in providing the Good News to people all over the world.

I like your description of teaching "half a god". After over 35 years of attending a variety of churches it still amazes me what is NOT taught or spoken about in churches but which IS taught and declared in the Bible itself. It is as if the churches are afraid to teach the full and actual message of the Lord but opt instead for a cut down "dressed up" version aimed at making people "comfortable" and not "offended".

I have been told by one national Christian radio network that while they like my poetry it is too "confrontational" for their audience to air on their radio stations. But the only thing it confronts you with is ... the truth.

But even on Christian internet forums I find that most do not want to explore or talk about the full reality of what the Lord has declared as the truth, as the REALITY, we live in ... HIS reality. That even on the internet most want to continue to hide away in the "half truth" of most church doctrines and traditions and avoid rather than confront and embrace the full, and amazing, truth the Lord has called them to.
I can appreciate that many are comfortable in the familiar half-truth they have grown up in. It is "safe" and "acceptable", and it is no wonder, for Satan himself is happy for people to avoid a full on relationship with the Lord and "half-truth" is one of Satan's own favourite tools of deception. He is quite willing for people and churches to sleep on cocooned in the illusion of a comfortable "half-truth". What I call "cotton candy Christianity" (Sugar and spice and all things nice). It is those trying to wake them up to the full reality of the Lord's word that Satan attacks wherever he can.

Life in the full reality of a full on relationship with the Lord is a daily battle in THIS world - but the Lord has never hid the reality that it would be. We are in a battle for not only our own souls but those of others also. In a battle only those who are well behind the lines can rest comfortably. For those in the Lord THIS world IS the battle line and Heaven is our resting place - when we get there.

If you are still on Earth and do not feel the heat of the battle around you and the weapon of truth (the sword of the Spirit - the word of God as per the Bible) constantly in your hand - your behind the wrong lines.

Thought I'd share my poem about "Cotton Candy Christianity". It seems appropriate to the topic.

ETERNAL GOLD.
Sugar and spice and all things nice,
'Tis the stuff of fairy floss.
But in the fire does soon expire,
And is counted naught but dross!

Ah! But gold be found in the dirt of the ground,
And from darkest depths is mined.
From the dregs of the crush and the torrents rush
'Tis gleaned and by fire refined.

From the mire and crud, by sweat and by blood
Each valuable fleck brutally won.
So each precious grain is counted as gain,
Though the dross is amassed by the ton!

But the world is slowly turning to a furnace that is burning,
An apocalyptic, refining flame,
And all the finery and gloss will be counted with the dross,
And only the gold will remain.
