The Blessed Hope

The Blessed Hope

Titus 2:13"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ"

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3”For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

Sudden destruction will come upon those in darkness when they think peace has finally come. The Lord will only come as a thief in the night to them but not to us.

1Thessalonians 5:4-5"Ye brethren are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light children of the day, we are not of the night nor of darkness."
Revelation 3: 10 "Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world. 11 Look, I am coming quickly. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown."

Luke 21:36"Watch ye therefore and pray always that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and stand before the Son of man".

1 Thessalonians 5:6"Therefore let us not sleep as do others but let us WATCH and be sober."

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10"God hath not appointed us to wrath but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us that whether we wake or sleep we should live together with Him. Wherefore COMFORT yourselves together and edify one another."

Romans 5:8-9"...while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Much more then being now justified by His blood we shall be saved from wrath through Him."

You do not have to go through that and be a martyr to go to be with the Lord. In Luke 21 Jesus mentions many things that will come to pass before He comes in power and great glory. He says when you see these thinks BEGIN to happen (not afterwards) LOOK UP your redemption is near.

Luke 21:28 "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."

This is refered to as the BEGINNING OF SORROW in Matthew 24:8. He tells us to not be caught up in the things of this world or that day will "come upon you unaware".

Luke 21:34”And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. “

1 John 3:2-3"...we know when He shall appear we shall be like Him for we shall see him as he is, and every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself even as He is pure."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17"For the LORD HIMSELF will descend from heaven WITH A SHOUT, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT UP together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the AIR: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore COMFORT ONE ANOTHER WITH THESE WORDS."

Notice he does NOT come back down to the earth. We are caught UP to meet Him in the air.

1Cor.15:52"Behold, I shew you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed."

In Thessalonians it said the Lord HIMSELF will SHOUT: We will hear His voice that will sound like a trumpet as John heard when he said,

"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a GREAT VOICE AS OF A TRUMPET ,saying I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA the FIRST and the LAST..." (Rev 1:10).

This is the Voice of the LORD giving the LAST CALL to the church at the end of the church age, the end of the age of grace. In 1 Corinthians the last trump is also referring to the LAST CALL by the VOICE of God. The CHURCH which comes from the Greek word 'EKKLESIA' meaning "A CALLING OUT" will be with the Lord forever. After this period is a different age: when He will deal with the Jews. Then Israel will have their last chance to receive Him also; the Gentiles who receive Him at this time are NOT the Church. Those who give their lives to the Lord then are called the tribulation saints.
Revelation 7:13"And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."

The church has gone to be with the Lord and will return to earth WITH the Lord at the end of the tribulation.

Matthew 24:21”For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."

Matthew 24:27"For as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even to the west so shall the coming of the Son of man be."

The Lord comes down and His feet touch the earth at the end of the great tribulation.

Jude 14"And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. "

Rev 19:14"And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean."

Zechariah 14:4 His feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in two, from east to west, making a very great valley. Half of the mountain will move toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

These two passages in 1Thess.4:16 and 1Cor.15:52 do not refer to the 7 trumpets in Rev.8 through 11, which is pouring out JUDGEMENT upon those who do not believe;" at the end of the great tribulation, and immediately following, the seventh is the ANGEL blowing the trumpet {not the Lord's voice as before} making the announcement that "the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and he shall reign for ever and ever" (Rev.11:15).

If a person just looks at the word ’trump’ and ‘ trumpet’ in these passages and assumes it is the same., they are not understanding the Hebraic meaning of the different trumpet blasts, which is this case was the longest, and loudest blast. Since the Jews knew this, Paul did not explain further. In Corinthians this was the Trump of GOD, but in Revelation, which was not written until approximately 30 years later, it was the trumpet of ANGELS. In Exodus 19:19-20 at this type of blast the Lord came down and Moses went up, symbolic of us being caught away.

Israel used trumpets all the time to announce what was happening. There were different blasts for different occasions. The angels will continue to sound the trumpet in future ages- the shofar--a rams horn --which is a different sound than we think of with trumpets of this day and age. Learn to recognize the sound of the shofar. He is coming in the clouds to call His own unto Himself.

Are you ready for this great event? He is coming for those without spot or wrinkle, and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27), This is a privilege and reward for those who follow Him in spirit and in truth, not those who are carnal and seeking their own way. Although His love is unconditional His promises are conditional. If we do our part He will do His. We are to become mature (Ephesians 4:14). We are to think, act, and see things completely different because we now have the character of our Father, imitating His actions, reactions, thoughts and words.

Ephesians 5:1"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children"
John 14:23"Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.24He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me"

2 Corinthians 6:16" And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. "

If you have completely given your heart to Him and He is the Lord of every part of your life be looking for Him and listening for His voice. Put your trust in the His grace and shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, the ONLY sacrifice that cleanses us from our sins, not trusting in our good works for salvation.

"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth in Him shall not be ashamed." (Rom. 10:9-11)

Jesus said:
"Marvel not that I said unto thee ye must be born again."(John3:7)
"Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3)

"I know thy works that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou art cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm and neither cold not hot I will spue thee out of my mouth." (Rev.3:15-16)

"I have somewhat against thee, because you hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou are fallen and repent and do the first works. (Rev 2:4-5)
Eph. 5:17"Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit."

Be filled literally means "Be being filled" or continually being filled with the Holy Spirit of God We have been sanctified, separated unto Him ,and are to be separate from the world; that is, we are not like the unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:17-18). We think, act, and see things completely different and have the character of our Father, imitating His actions, reactions, thoughts and words. Jesus said if you love Him then obey Him (John14:15-17).

Galatians 5:16"Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh"

Are you looking for Him? He is coming for those who are looking for Him, anticipating His appearing.

Hebrews 9:28"So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and UNTO THEM THAT LOOK FOR HIM SHALL HE APPEAR the second time without sin unto salvation. "

We are LOOKING FOR that blessed hope, the great God and our Saviour Jesus.

Remember there were five wise virgins but there were 5 foolish one who did not get to enter in.

Matthew 25:1"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them.
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13WATCH therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh."

Eph. 5:17"Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit"

Be filled literally means "Be being filled" or continually being filled with the Holy Spirit of God. We have been sanctified, separated unto Him , and are to be separate from the world; that is, we are not like the unbelievers. So stay filled with His Spirit, keep your heart pure, and look for His blessed appearing

Thanks for that Godspeaks . you must've worked really hard on that . i think i already posted my opinion recently on these things (that being end times events) in another thread . so to contribute to what you have written .

A few things have come to mind

Revelation 1:10 shows how the voices of the heavenly including God can be as a trumpet . food for thought .

Hebrews Chapter 4 when talking about the rest of God illustrates something of God is fulfilled when all that is spoken of it happens . Hebrews Chapter 10 says the same thing about the old covenant to the new . The sacrifices kept happening in cycles but were just a picture of the fulfillment . like the seasons a picture of God's faithfulness . So with anything that is fulfilled . if it is still happening . it's not really finished . as with the sin of the amorites fulfillment brings about the fruit of what it was building up to .

Hope that helps .

Thanks again for the food for thought .

blessings,

-Michael

GodSpeaks , I want to thank you for this wonderful and concise study . You have covered all the bases and there is not much else to say ... other than , keep your eyes fixed upon Jesus . He is coming soom . It may be morning night or noon and like the 5 virgins we must always keep our lamps lit . The infilling of the Holy Spirit is our oil and each day we need a new infilling . Give me oil in my lamp , keep me burning ,burning, burning till the break of day .

Praise God , GodSpeaks . What great news .

Of course there is that passage in Matthew that implies the wicked get taken away and not the righteous . so just incase this new fangled rapture focus is not correct . it is always good as it has been historically to prepare for persecution also .

you must've worked really hard on that

It took many, many years of examining the different interpretations of eschatology (end times). And continually learning more and recieving more light.

Revelation 1:10 shows how the voices of the heavenly including God can be as a trumpet . food for thought .

Yes it does
GodSpeak said:
"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a GREAT VOICE AS OF A TRUMPET ,saying I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA the FIRST and the LAST..." (Rev 1:10).

Hebrews Chapter 10 says the same thing about the old covenant to the new .

Thats correct, the Old Testament is very symbolic in that it contains types and shadows of things to come, which specifically the most numberous are symbolic passages that point forward to the Messiah, the Saviour who was to come. As the saying goes, the OT is Christ concealed, the NT is Christ revealed.
.

Thanks again for the food for thought .

You're welcome. I know it's mostly scripure, but really we should look to scripture to explain scripture. I do try to explain some things here in the most simple way so everyone can more easily understand it .

God bless

Amen Dusty. The most important thing is to love Him and follow Him with all our heart. We want to please someone we love don't we? Stay on fire for the Lord and be looking for Him. Then when our Father decides its time we will be with Him forever!
