Hello!

Hello!

I am a 23 year old male with 1 child and another on the way!.

I was a christian some 9 years ago as a teenager but moved away, In fact I dont think I was ever a true Christian - I always worried about what I would miss out on by "not sinning" and more worried with the world than god.

I have since recommitted to Jesus about 2 months back now. or committed as I like to call it (because this time I am far more worried about being right with god than what I will "miss" in this life)

In fact, all my experiences with life outside of God always lead to me being hurt..
But I guess when you play in the devils play ground, he dont care about your health or how you are coping, he wont look after you.

I am glad to be back and to be right with Jesus, I love going to church now. :smiley180:
Since I have recommitted things have been going the best they ever had. Thank you Jesus!

Welcome to CFS Darknight .

Isaiah 58:10
and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

I look forward to seeing more of your posts .

Darknight -
To become a full member, just keep posting. I believe you need at least 5 or 10 posts to become a full member. I just think it's a rule because some people are usually just here to post a prayer request, and then they're gone. When you become a full member, it just shows that you really want to stay here. :) But I'm not sure lol.

If you want to get your posts high quick, you can just go to the New Member's and welcome newcomers :) I believe that's what I did when I first joined! And look at my posts now! ;) Over 1,000 haha.

I hope you decide to stay here and that we can learn more about ya!

Have a great night/morning/afternoon (whenever you read this!)

Thanks xspin.
and everyone else for welcomes.
I do plan to stay (if this is bold ignore it, it wont go away)

One thing I had forgotten is how great you feel with Jesus in your life.. As soon as I opened back up I have felt pretty good ever since.
The first time I reentered a church I could just tell God was there, it was a very good uplifting spiritual experience
Unlike the earthly hell I was facing trying to do it all on my own.

I have made mistakes and lots of them, but I am hoping that I can use my bad experiences to help others some time down the track, maybe a youth counselor as I get a bit older or drug and alcohol counselor.

If I can turn the bad stuff that has happened to me in to good, then it wasn't all for nothing...

Thanks, I just got a job today working with youth lol.
There is lots of things that are sin.
I tend to feel that sin pulls you away from Christ and makes your relationship with Him harder.
It is better not to sin as much as possible for that reason.
And we should always repent when we do.
I dont like this new idea thats coming about lately that once saved always saved because it don't match with Hebrews 10 26-28.
The only way it matches with that is if you twist it to mean: It is talking about walking away from Christ and even then, hellooooo??? sinful nature is walking away from Christ..

The idea of once saved always saved doesn't add up to me, if that was the case why do we bother to do ANYTHING other than accept Christ??
Jesus made a point of saying we should have only good emotions as Christians and treat others certain ways...
All this - everything in the bible is what being a Christian is about..

Relationship with Christ is like being born in life .

being born is not everything

but you would not have a life if you were not born

so it is with being born again .

Yes but Christ also did alot of teaching on how to act and whats right and wrong, we cant ignore that.
So did paul.
Also you are born again with Christ (Spiritually) - Not in body, so we keep our same sinning habit bodies!
IE: When I accepted Christ I was still addicted to smoking (Which I hope to give up soon lol)

John wrote a letter and said the good works are prompted from love . so we don't need to focus on what to do . but just what makes it happen :) over the years i have found this to be much more efficient . hope that helps .

I to was a smoker I could not give up until I had the prayer team at our church lay hands on me and pray that I would stop that bad habit.... For you see I could not do this own my own I needed God to help I have not smoked for 5 years or more now praise God

Yes I read somewhere about there being no law against grace love etc etc etc.
So that does make sense.
@Not-home-yet
Yes, it sure is a hard habbit.

Katie,

in examining the statement:

The only sin is to not believe christ.
One might think .. maybe this is too simplistic . what about all the other sins listed in the bible?

Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." (John 6:29)

But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. (Romans 14:23)

So since the bible says this then what Michael had to say about sin has at least some validity because it is clearly written in the scriptures . i will now examine the greater context of the roots of what matters .

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. (Galatians 5:6)

Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. (Galatians 6:15)

Okay .. so usually these are the only ones quoted when talking about all that matters but there is one more and cannot leave this one out ..

Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts. (1st Corinthians 7:19)

This points to Paul giving tailored messages . to the galatians who knew the law quite well and were tempted to be legalistic He pointed to how trust within the context of a love relationship and being a new creation is all that matters . but to the Corinthians who had a nickname named after their sexual immorality that pretty much meant to "do it like a Corinthian" so in Corinth . law was the emphasis . and in Galatia . grace the emphasis . but James brings the two concepts together saying faith without works is dead and talks about what love is in relation to the number one commandment to love God with all your whole being and your neighbour as yourself . see chapter 2 of that letter for more details .

one thing that really brings it all together for me is this passage .

"8Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." (Romans 13-8-10)

Since love is the fulfillment of the law . and the only thing that matters is faith expressing itself through love . then by trusting God and loving others (and God) as God loved you first .. then the law is not only simplified . but it also simple enough for a child to understand it also . of whom Jesus said .. the kingdom belongs . so trust in God expressing itself through agape is the only thing that matters . and it appears that the only sin . or all sins individually develop from trust issues because apart from trusting God .. everything is sin .

hope that helps .
