Question...

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?- Peter 2 3:12

Does this mean to pray for hastening of the End Times and for the coming of Christ?

I belive we should pray for Him to hasten His coming. I don't belong to this world I am in the kingdom of God now.

Revelation 22:20
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Not necessarilly to pray for the hastening ... because only God knows the day and hour and it is His Will as to when things are set in motion... however, we should all be observant of all those prophesies that must take place before the return of Christ; that John the Elder wrote of in the Book of Revelation 1-22 (KJV) while he was on the island of Patmos, around 95 AD. It was through John the Elder, that God gave us the Book of Revelation as a chronological time line of events, happenings and what to expect in the end times.

For those persons who have never been instructed in the contents of The Book of Revelation or are forbidden by denominational orders to not read the Book of Revelation, they may be deceived by certain earthly happenings, unless they actually take the personal responsibility to cut to the chase and study Revelation - so they actually know what is going to happen and in what order.

You can pray for those who do not know what The Book of Revelation contains... that would be very appropriate prayer.

I pray daily for the "Coming of the Lord" and hope it's soon. "This world is not my home. I'm just passing through." I'm homesick for heaven. "Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

One time I invited a friend to a Bible study. The next day I talked with my friend and asked what she thought about it. She said I sounded like I was ready to go to heaven right now.

I said, "I am." :)

We better be ready.

Matthew 24:36
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

I mean, we should always pray. But I don't think this is what the scripture is saying. I looked this scripture up in many different versions just now and it seems that we should be eager for the end times. But that's just how I'm interpreting the scripture. I may be wrong!

I think we should be looking forward to it. If He is the most important person in our life we should want to be with him.

This scripture, to me, seems to point more towards watching for the signs of the day that God returns.

NLT: 11 Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, 12 looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. 13 But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.

Come Lord, Quickly. The Word is living and active and quickens us, preparing our minds to be sober spiritually, His Word effectually working in His Children who believe, changing us, letting more of the Mind of Christ be in us, so we may set our minds on the things above and look more intently into the Perfect Law of Liberty, so we may be effectual doers, not hearers only, letting the Word of Christ dwell richly in us, He has the Words for eternal life, knowing Him is eternal life, He is our bread, every Word out of the mouth of God is food for our souls, and to Him who has more is given. Jesus said, 'My food is to do the willl of Him who sent Me.' We should not be content to come to the Table and leave without being fed from His Word. We need to shut the World out, and go away to a secluded place, where we can daily receive our bread, and Worship Him as we feast on His Word, and in turn our minds are prepared for action, we come to Him for His grace, seek Him, and He fills our lamps, He keeps them Lit. He said to be dressed in readiness and to keep our lamps lit.

Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit. Luke 12:35

and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; Eph 6:15

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. I Thessalonians 5:24

May God bless you richly, in Jesus' Name, all wisdom, Glory, Honor, and Power belong to Him

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrew 12:2

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:13

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, Titus 3:5

So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." John 10:7-9

My sheep listen My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.I and the Father are one.”
John 10:27-30

But He said to him, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God." Luke 9:60

But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead." Matthew 8:22

Ah, the New Heaven, New Earth and New Jerusalem! It is going to be more then what we could ever think!

I believe all that who are His are looking forward to this day, and we do wish from time to time that is would happen now. Yet, when I do find myself "daydreaming" about the day I am with the Lord, His Spirit tells me that there is still so much work to be done first. The harvest is ready!

Philippians 1:19-26
To Live Is Christ

19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live isis gain. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. 25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, 26 that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

Looking at this a little different. Ya, the Earth is going to be melted, but praying for this to hurry up is not going to hurry it more. When the Gospel is preached all over the Word, then the end comes. I would rather make sure that we have reached everyone possible, then let it all burn.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I know there are (Hurting) Christians wanting Jesus to come and take away all the pain. That is only thinking of yourself. We still have lots of work to do, and but such a short time to get it done.
