Storms

John 6:16-21

Jesus Walks on the Water

16When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, 17where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them. 18A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. 19When they had rowed three or three and a half miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were terrified. 20But he said to them, "It is I; don't be afraid." 21Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.

This summer , we all have experienced storms of nature . As I reflect about our storm ( Tornado ) I am reminded of God's hand in nature and God's hand in the storms of my life.

Yesterday in church we were reminded about the disciples who went into their boat , never anticipating a storm . When the sea became rough and the wind started blowing --- they were afraid.

It seems when the disciples were separated from Jesus bad things happened . Just as in our own lives -- when we think we can do it on our own .... we fail . And we separate ourselves from Him .

The disciples saw Jesus walking on the water and coming near the boat. ( John 6:19 )

The point here is Jesus is the same today ... He is able to calm the storms in our lives . If we give it all to Him , we can be assured , He will walk with us on our stormy waters of life .

It is easy to rest in Christ's strength when the sea is calm but I am asking Jesus to remind me of His Power when I am caught in the next storm in my life and loose sight of His Truth .

Col. 3:3 ..... Your life is hidden with Christ in God .

Thankyou Jesus for calming every storm of our life as we walk with You . I am so comforted that You can do anything , anytime .

I am so glad you all enjoyed it . A little side line . Did you know that Jesus and Peter were the only ones who ever walked on water?

Yah you guys knew that :D:D:):) Just a thought .

Jesus is able to walk on the very waves that threaten our lives . Even though it comes to those things that threaten to drown us , Jesus is stronger , greater and more powerful in every way . He isn't tossed around by the waves and neither will we be if our lives are fully and tuly hidden in Him .

Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Yes, Jesus is able to make the storm obey His command. Thus the Lord is able to soften even the hardest of hearts in mankind, according to His Will.

May the Lord calm the storms in our hearts and give us strength to face every troubled days with calmness in our hearts. Amen

Amen Grace and that is why I like the 23rd Psalm as it tells us that whatever we are going through , ws can be asured that our God is there ... Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death ... I will fear no evil for He is with me .

The disciples knew that Jesus was on land and probably assumed there really wasn't anything Jesus could do anyways . We too can fall into that mindset if we are not careful " I've got to work this out on my own " However as we strive to live victorious lives , we have to come to that place where we realize that Jesus is the only One who brings calm to the troubled seas of our life.

Very nice Dusty. But you what else this reminds me of when going through a storm? When Peter saw him coming and asked to come out to meet Him. Jesus said, come. He was fine until he took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at the storm.

We can also be reminded of this while going through our storms in life. We should always keep our minds and hearts on Jesus. Don't look at your situation, problem, or anything that you are depending on God to handle. Look only to God and He alone will calm the storm in your life.

Thank you so much Dusty for this. I am in need of this in my life and you just reminded me through God's word that He will carry me through my storm.

That is why CFS is blessed by God. We all comfort one another and we lift each other up. It is the Words of God that we post here that becomes alive and touch the hearts of His children.

God bless you sister,

Praise God sis and I need the reminder as well and as I was writing I have in the past tried to do it my way and it never worked when you don't put God First. But then we have to learn our lesson and sometimes that is a very hard pill to swallow.

Yes Peter, is my example and as soon as he focused on the wind , he sank , but Jesus was there to grab his hand just the same as with us when we are sinking in our problems , Jesus will pull us out , grab us by our hand and get us back on track .

I want to encourage all of us to rely on Jesus . He did come to our rescue the disciples and He asks them a simple question " Where is your faith?"

If we learn to rely on on Him , He will increase the faith in our hearts that will bring us through any situation . Now that doesn't mean that we won't ever face another storm : it just means that we will have Someone on board with us always . That's the kind of Person that I want to take with me don't you ?

Stop and consider God's wonders ! I believe that's a good exercise in getting proper perspective on any storm . He is a great God beyond our understanding !!!! He is our God of Wonders working far beyond human limitiations. Amen and amen ... Hallelujah .... Thank you Jesus .

Thank you for this post. I too love the analogy. I really need this in my life right now. It is a good reminder to turn my focus to God and put him in the driver's seat of my life.
